Re: Another sporting role-model. Not.
Yeah, it gets me how these guys keep getting referred to as "heroes." Whereas the reality is that the very best that can be said about any of these sporting stars, is that they are at best, pretty bloody ordinary human beings. Ahhh, the dark underbelly of the sports culture - the best anti...

Another sporting role-model. Not.
The "All Blacks" are the national Rugby team of New Zealand. They recently won the 2011 Rugby World Cup. So they are the current world champions. So they are "the best of the best." Apparently. Here is how one of "the best of the best" likes to relax in his spare time.....

Re: 2011 World Solar Challenge (Oct 16-23)
Just to put those figures for the average speeds into context, and to see how this technology is improving over time, you can see a list of average speeds for all of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place-getters since this event began in 1987, here... http://www.worldsolarchallenge.org/about_the_event/roll_of...

Re: 2011 World Solar Challenge (Oct 16-23)
So this event is over now of course, and they finally got around to publishing the final results on the website, including the average speeds. I like seeing what the average speeds are for a long-distance event like this, because I think that the average speed is a good indicator of the realistic on...

Re: the Penn State scandal
Gee, this whole situation is screwed up on so many levels. It's more proof that people devoted to sport are certainly not part of some kind of magical society of higher beings, as they would have us believe.

Re: Breaking NEWS: World Ends October 21, This Time For Sure
You know, the big final game of the Rugby World Cup is on the 23rd, so if the world does end on the 21st, then at least that's one less bore-fest we'll have to hear about!

Re: 2011 World Solar Challenge (Oct 16-23)
Day 3 Update - This event is a little over half way now, and there has been some dramas in the last 24 hours - there was a bushfire that temporarily suspended the event for several hours, and separately from that, the car from the Philippines spontaneously combusted... http://www.worldsolarchallenge...

2011 World Solar Challenge (Oct 16-23)
2011_WSC_OndaSolare_Emilia2.jpg The "World Solar Challenge" is a 3,021 km (1,877 mile) race for cars that run on only whatever power they can generate from six square metres of their own on-board solar panels. That works out to only around 1,500 Watts of power available for them to use - ...

Re: Live Cricket Channel
Cricket. Holy shit, cricket is boring. Both of our major codes of football over here are having their big end of season final championship games this weekend, and at least that means that Monday will be the maximum amount of time until the next football season starts. But unfortunately though, it al...
