Well, seeing an opportunity to make a zinger (flimsy, though, it was), I took it; and look where it got me. :( I was simply concentrating on the idea of wishing death upon large groups of people, which was certainly true of those two. As historians firmly attest, they gave in to their fantasies with a horrible vengence.

Hey! I just thought of the perfect crime!

Grab one football player by the ankles and beat another football player over the head with him!

You can even become cynical at my age if you're subjected to enough of the factors that can make a person cynical. Heck, I'd say that was a word that described me very well. I just try not to show it on here. :D

But then again, wibberley, seeing as how you've got a wife and two kids, I don't really see what you've got to be cynical about. Not all of us were so fortunate with other people.

i was in your situation when i was your agethen in a matter of a little over two years i became a husband and then a father  so you never know what's round the corner. For instance ,id never imagined id be learning the piano at my age (though once i started i knew this was it)I remember about 15 years ago a girl9IN HER 20S) told me she had got to grade 7.All I can imagine,if I thought about it at all,was that it was something I could never do.Between the ages of 8 and 13 I played the violin when I was at school and I hated it.SO I was advised to give up by my teacher who said he could not see the point in me continuing, and from that time I felt I had done the right thing (and i still do feel the same way because if after 5 years and you haven't got very far then the best thing to do is to give it u)iWhen I was 14 I become interested in early jazz so i bought a clarinet and that was a none -starter.Then when I was in my mid-20s a friend encouraged me to buy an acoustic guitar because he had one. That was a none-starter .Then aboutb 3 years after that I started to take the guitar more seriously and even had some lessons(or really they were just sessions to give me pointers as i only went 6 times)Perhaps for a couple of years after that i would pick the guitar up occasionally, but then it must have been a good 10 years before i started with the piano. Then ,nearly 7 years ago i decided i wanted to have piano lessons. No one suggested it to me,it was something that purelyAnd came from inside myself(i think perhaps that at the time ,i knew someone who was having classical guitar lessons and i think somehow that had a bearing in me wanting to learn a musical instrument(typically, this person didnt have lessons for very long although at the time he had been learning for a few months which seemed like ages at the time))And now I cant imagine not playing although my other hobbies wax and wane according to circumstance

Seriously, 1981, I don't get it either.

If he has three wonderful people who love him, how can he be the cynical, out-of-control nihilist that he appears to be when he posts? Hopefully his wife not only loves him but understands him, because that's what's most important... (But, don't worry, 1981. I'm sure things will get better for you soon. From what I've read in your posts, you seem to have many good talents, which should impress people. It's not all about athleticism.)

wibberley: Is your wife a sports-fan or something? Is that why you are so enraged all the time? What about your in-laws; do they also constantly shove soccer down your throat? I just don't understand the rage.

People don't change overnight generally. Their stories may. Their behaviour may. They don't.

C'mon, we've been asking you about it for so long. Why are you so mad at the world? You have three wonderful people in your life who love you and one woman who understands and appreciates you, right? What else do you want?

I actually understood your rage more, wibberley, when you were saying that you were alone and had been rejected by every female you'd ever spoken to. I've been in that position before (correction, sorry, I AM in that position right now, as I type this) and I know the anger and resentment it can cause. You ask yourself "Why am I the one on my own? Why should I be lonely and sad when many others are surrounded by people and happy?" It does stir up feelings of contempt against the world, and I understand that. But now you're telling us that you have a wife and kids and you really aren't a loner at all, I understand your general rage even less. What is there to be mad about exactly, wibberley? What did cause this disdain for the ways of the world? We're not trying to intimidate you here, we're just interested to know more. Believe me, there are many people worse off than you in the world.

:( NO she isnt actually. The point is,is that some people cannot seem to find anybody.I always remember hearing someone on the radio that if you havent met anyone by your early twenties then the window of opportunity is closed. This comment ,of course,is clearly subjective, but sometimes ,it seems for a lot of people there is a big flury of activity between ,say ,15 and 20 and if you cant get your first girlfriend in that period then it will be difficult later on.Perhaps a 22 year old woman who has just come out of a relation ship will be hesitant about dating a guy who is 25 and has never been in a relationship. And so it becomes a stigma with them as it were.IN THE FILM"WHEN HARRY MET SALLY" the tom hanks character said that anyone over 40 is unlikely to meet anyone.Jane Austin in"Persuasion"(1817) refers to the' 'danger years'(for a woman) as being 30 plus.THen you get a lot of women who are in their 40s and they clearly dont want to be married.I got married at 31 which, looking back, was a pretty cool age as i been able to do things in my 20s that i couldnt have done had i been married(but that was purely circumstancial rather than by design)>I had 2 friends who married their first

Not meaning to correct your spelling, but it's "shit" NOT 5h17. OK?

I know you're just trying to be polite, but we're all adults here.

(Except for maybe Wibberley.)
