Why do you guys bother

Post by Payne »

Ok first off I would like to say that i'm not gonna try to convince you to like sports and i'm not gonna shove it down your throat like you claim so many people are doing, infact I perfectly respect your opinion. However what I would like to know is why do you feel such a need to complain about it, there are alot of thing I never understood are cared for, an example would be Anime, despite this i've never created or posted on a site dedicated to the eradication of Anime, i've just respected that we have different interest. Exactly how hard would it be to just live and let die. Beside considering how intellectual, artistic, and sospicicated everyone on this site claims to be, shouldn't you be using your time to compose music, paint, sculpt, play chess, or preticipate in other activity us neanderthal sports fans wouldn't understand, instead of spending that time bitching on a forum.

I think you've pretty much missed the point. :?

Your analogy of anime isn't a good one in this case. Loving anime isn't considered "the norm" in our world...and you aren't shunned or picked on for not liking it. (Heck it's probably the reverse, but I digress.)

Go to the Letters pages of sportssuck.org and see some of the letters people have written. I can't count the number that say "thank god this site exists" or "I thought I was the only one" or "everyone thinks I'm weird for not liking sports"...etc etc etc. You get the point?

Personally I see this site as more of a "virtual support group" than anything else...a place where us sports haters are...for once..."the norm". It's not that much bitching as it is a place to practice our free speech and release some frustration.

I also find it hard to believe that your given as much $H!+ as you claim to take from sportsfans, as someone who only follows football(american), whenver someone talks to me about baseball or basketball I simply tell them that i'm not interested, and they usually leave it at that.

Then why are YOU here?

Just the fact that you even care whether or not we like or dislike sports proves that some of what we say is true.

You say that you told someone that you weren't interested in two particular sports and that was that; yet you found it necessary to write 2 posts in defense of sports.

Now let me tell you what I really think of sports in general.

Sports a nothing more than a homo erotic waste of time being played by overpaid, undereducated closet homosexuals whose only purpose in life is so the masses who follow this crap can feel that they have some meaning to their otherwise useless existance by vicariously living through the players that they watch. Sports jerks assert themselves in the accomplishments of these overpaid drug addicts because most of them have nothing else in their mundane little lives.

Give me one good reason to even remotely care about a sport, any sport. Got news for ALL you sports fans, IT'S JUST GAME! Nothing more.

Not everybody gets grief for their dislike of sports, but even if you don't, there's still the prevailing mentality in society that everybody must like sports. We practically have to move to a remote desert island to escape the constant bombardment of sports this and sports that. People act like somebody has failed if a child doesn't like sports. Baby boys are dressed in sports-themed garments practically from birth, implying that because the child is a boy, he is automatically going to like sports. Brand-new sports stadiums are considered a priority over everything else, even in cities with poor schools and high illiteracy rates. It's ridiculous.
Yes, it really is JUST A GAME.

why are you only telling us this? there are millions of sites about millions of different things that are just like this one ranting or chating about something or another. there are sites for sports fans to talk, according to you they should be out playing sprots instead of chatting correct? why not go to every single site and tell everyone to stop talking about stuff that interests them. we are just like every other site, just a different topic and opinions. btw i dont think anyone on here spends all of their life on this site, we do other things....
Sports contribute nothing to society. They are a waste of time, money, effort and TV channels! It's just a bunch of buffed up, fat headed, idiotic jocks chasing a ball around.

If cheerleading were any easier... It would be called football!

After hurricane Katrina, people went without basic needs for months and FEMA claimed that they were doing the best they could. FEMA was chastised, and are still occasionally chastised for not taking care of the people of New Orleans.
Yet, not 1 single person said anything when the New Orleans football stadium was almost completely renovated during a time when that money could have been better spent on getting their citizens places to live, and people were still living in FEMA trailers.
Most of new orleans was destroyed, but halleluah that they can play football

Old news sure, but just another example of sports taking precedence over human life.

I appreciate your civil tone but how is voicing our opinion any different than anyone else stating their opinion? I don't think our site is very different than any other site. If you want to hear some mean, vicious, moronic positions, go to a sports web site.

They positively hate each other. One site berates the Bears. Another site bashes the Yankess. Another site hates the Indians. Another site describes the Red Sox as the worst thing since Aids. I mean they go at each other as if they were jews and muslims --and for what?! I don't understand it. Compared to them, we are angels.

Why are THEY allowed to hate each other but we're not allowed to dislike sports in general?

Sports and the sheep that follow them SUCK!

One of the most important aspects of recovery is to put money back into the economy, and what better way to do that then with the millions the Superdome brings in, it's the same reason they decided to go on with Mardi Gra.

The reason I check out this site is because I personally find it entertaining how most of you still haven't gotten over what your gym teacher made you do in 7th grade, it just boggles me how stuck up and bitter you act over sports.

I understand where your coming from there are certainly some idiot who take it far to seriously, however most of it is done in jest. Besides this could be applied to many other hobbie, such as video game fanboys who argue fanaticly about whether the PS3 or Xbox360 is better, or music fans who argue if Jimmy Hendrix or Eric Clapton was better. I don't hear you comdemming them, infact I wouldn't be surprised if some of you actually took part in these arguements.

Why is so important to you to try and convert us to sports fans?
Go enjoy wasting your time with sports, and leave us out of it.

I'd appreciate you not spamming the board. You were fairly civil before... what happened? Did your team lose?

Well, considering the name of the site is SPORTS Suck...

I also fail to see how we're "inmature"; we're not the ones who go crazy over a game where the outcome means nothing.

Sports aren't just a "hobbie" to a lot of people. It's a freakin' WAY OF LIFE. Why else would somebody waste hours every weekend parked in front of the TV and yelling? Why else would they get drunk when their team wins, or cry (yes, I have heard of some of the actually doing that) or get depressed for a week when they lose? Anybody who doesn't like sports, refuses to watch the Stupor Bore (aka Super Bowl), or whatever is considered suspect, weird, gay, un-American, etc. Nobody ever says, "You don't collect stamps? What the heck is wrong with you?" Yet that is the attitude they have about sports.
Yes, it really is JUST A GAME.

First of all, if you're going to call me IMMATURE you could at least spell it right.

Secondly, sports ARE homo erotic that is not "a fallback of the INmature" as you put it. Books from well known psychiatrists have stated this. You honestly don't think that a bunch of fat slobs painting their faces, wearing their favorite players jersey, knowing every stat about their favorite player, dreaming about getting naked in the locker room and showering and touching each others ass isn't gay?!
You're right, that's absolutely NOTHING like a woman wearing makeup, wearing their boyfriends clothes, getting naked with their boyfriends and giving each other "love taps" on the ass. I was obviously mistaken

Also, my supposed assumption that sports are homosexual is no different than you and every other sports jerk assuming just because we don't like sports we somehow had trouble in gym class or some other BS. What I said is ABSOLUTELY true and documented. Yours is based on pure conjecture!

To my fellow sports haters, I was walking through a bookstore a few months back and there was this magazine that had this printed in big letters on the front cover:

"SPORTS - THE NEW HOMOSEXUAL PORN"

I am not making this up, my wife pointed it out to me and I thought it was hilarious. Unfortunately I forgot about it till just a little bit ago.
