Sports do encourage bullying and, thus, suicide in some aspects. Think about it - a kid is just minding his/her own business, when a cocky-ass jock/prep decides to show off for their "friends". That would certainly lead to something.

The kids in sports do so well because they cheat off of those such as I. How the hell else do they get all their work done a few hours before practice and ace tests with 100%s? The coaches may not know that bit of the deal.

Industries such as the automotive repair industries are suffering due to lack of materials and, hence, lack of jobs. These companies lay off employees due to the simple fact they don't have the raw materials to make products. Many items use the plastics the sports industries waste for helmets, such as your computer, car, television, etc.
All sports teams have someone that dictates the production of memerobilia. Hence, they can demand more [shit] stock if they wanted to. If that stock doesn't sell, you can take a good guess what happens to it.
I do not like brand name clothing. I support small businesses. It'd be a good response since I am part of a small construction business - it simply wouldn't be fair, now would it? Non brand name clothing is cheaper and lasts longer anyways. The businesses aren't corrupted by sports media as much as big businesses are. Also, it just shows that I don't make myself look like a fool just to fit into the rest of society.

There's no possible way that sports have had any cause to the auto industries doing poorly.

It's clear you have zero idea what you are talking about. I live in metro detroit, where the auto industry doing poorly is a very big concern, bigger than in most areas I'd presume. The auto industry is not suffering because a lack of materials. It's suffering because they are losing money, the materials are most definitely not an issue, I don't even know where you got that from. They are losing money and thus, they have to lay people off because they cannot afford to pay everyones salary.

If you can provide hard proof that the lack of materials is hurting the auto industry, then I will stand corrected.

Sports are not the cause of bullying. Sure, they cause people to be a little cocky and such, but they are not the root cause. People will always find ways to be mean.

And sure, you have a couple athletes like that but most of them do their work, from what I have seen. You also have your kids who don't play sports who copy off work and cheat. That's going to exist at the same rate either way. Most athletes are pretty smart, and tough minded kids. You have to be to play a sport. Even at the high school level, it's a lot of hard work, dedication, and discipline. Even moreso at the higher levels. You guys are ignoring that fact.

The loss of money will be made up for if the sports industry stopped making their products and gave up their funds to the automotives. What's more important overall - trucks to haul food or a Packers t-shirt?
You decide.
And the hard work, dedication, and discipline can be found in military bootcamps. Of course, the military is more important that a game - since it isn't a game. Sports doesn't involve true work. True work is repairing the automotives that bring almost EVERYTHING you buy. Now, because of the appeal of other industries such as sports, the U.S. is now over 110,000 automotive technicians short. Sports doesn't have any work value at all.

Right on, comrade blackdog. When the masses are hungry, they need food not football! I can't speak for the entire nation but I know that here, in Georgia, the red pigment required for the state football team colors is in short supply due to an explosion in demand for team jerseys. That shortage has caused a delay in production at the local automotive plant! Production has halted while people go hungry! Is that justice?? NO! DOWN WITH SPORTS!

Sports are responsible for a shortage in automotive technicians? Sports cause unemployment? Your arguments make no sense at all. Sports are as popular now as they were 10 years ago, when they economy was in a lot better shape. If anything, all of you should be grateful for the jobs the sports industry provides.

I'm sorry I was reading through some old posts and forgot that this was from a while ago. But what I said is still right.

I'm not saying that there isn't a need for them, but sports has no effect on those problems.
