Maybe splurge a bit more, give to a few more charities, but that's about it. (Actually, I'm not sure how much it would work out to in American dollars.)

RAISE CATERPILLARS?! Would those be for the bees? That's very interesting. I used to think about keeping bees. I had an uncle who did do it in NC. He used to always pass out free jars of honey when he came to visit. :)

Are there any mountains in Lousiana or are you thinking about moving? Have you ever read the Fox Fire books? They're a series of books published by a bunch of high school kids about living off the land. They would interview old people who lived in the country and get them to teach them a skill like chair making or making cane syrup, etc and they would record the directions in the books. Pretty interesting stuff. :)

No, that's totally separate. What would bees want with caterpillars? :P I've heard of people raising caterpillars and then releasing them after they become butterflies. I guess it sounds silly, but it seems like an interesting and fun thing to do. There's this big pot of parsley right outside my house that had caterpillars in it a couple of times last year. Unfortunately they usually get eaten by something, but one of them did actually make it all the way to a butterfly.

No, never read the Fire Fox books. Yes, I'll have to leave the state to live in the mountains. Louisiana pretty flat in the south, although I think it's hillier in the northern areas of the state (I've never actually been to that part of the state though). No bonafide mountains though.

oh no, that sounds interesting. I'd just never heard of it before and thought you were kidding. I saw on one of those travel channel food shows a couple who were raising SNAILS! THey had a shed FULL of slimy snails!

I'd like to live in the mountains too. Maybe. It's beautiful during the day but it's pretty dark at night. So dark you can't see your hand in front of your face. And full of ghosts. That's the thing about living in the country. I used to visit my grand parents in the country and when it gets dark, the frogs and the crickets start up and they would make such a racket all night long you could barely hear the ghosts!
