I wasn't going to post here again, but there's some things I need to say.

Starting off, I'm still clueless as to why I was banned. Other sports fans come in, make way more . . .

He got banned from the forums, and was able to come back here under a new name.

Sports have helped countless kids in the inner cities stay out of trouble, and probably a lot of other places.
A bit inacurate there, I will give you an example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Street

^ Yep that movie pretty much tells the truth about jocks and sports fans. But watch polite 24 will come back here and make some idiotic remark like it's just a movie. Well it's a movie that tells the truth!

Yeah! It's like I had once said before.

A friend of mine was once at the fights, and during the riot, a game broke out!

Or you could look at Remember the Titans, Coach Carter, Gridiron Gang, etc. All these movies are examples of sports doing very positive things.

Yes, and none of those movies are. The only thing they exaggerate are the games themselves.

Sports are what drains funding from other, more worthy pursuits at school.
AMEN!

My sister plays Varsity basketball for her HS. She is a pretty good kid. She gets great grades and is very trustworthy. Sadly this is not the norm. Most of her teammates are arrogant snots.

Not that I wasn't at that age too, but there weren't endless funds supporting my behaviors touting me as a god if I won a game for the "school."

Sports activities are supposed to be for supporting the school, right? How can you support the WHOLE school when there are only TEN players for BOTH teams that even get exercise or the chance to participate?

If people want to play sports in their spare time, that's fine. At least they are PARTICIPATING.

School sports are for less than 1% of the population that attends. No learning takes place.

If school sports truly teach anything, it's that not enough emphasis is placed upon ACTUAL LEARNING.

Look around you, watch the news, or quiz your kids on current events. The current worldwide economic crisis surely isn't being solved by sports at any rate.

Just my two cents. First post here. Love this site and its whole premise. See you around!

EDIT: 5 players on each team in basketball, not 10. My bad.
