But the Olympics does not unite the world.

It might not stop war but it lets the athletes put their differences aside and have fun.

Blackdog said it best. The modern olympics began in 1896 (or so). They didn't stop WWI nor WWII, both wars fought among nations commonly participating in the olympics!
Athletes and sane people can put aside their differences
sitting at home watching television, too. GOD, what a lame excuse to justify sports.
