How does having a tournament make it any harder? There's a tournament in the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA. It's called the playoffs. There's like 20 college basketball tournaments every year.
Everyone of those costs money. Do I want terminators or land raiders? Do I want a carnifex or genestealer? Do I want a kroot or vespid? Do I want a sentinel or chimera?

I'm not going to say I know what you're talking about because I don't
That said, that's a purely mental game. At the highest level it's probably very hard to win.
However, you're not physically doing anything. Sports are mental and at the highest level the physical part is extremely hard.

It takes far more mental skill. Anyway, what's to stop the awesome Baneblade?

Far more is a bit over the top.

Nice try, but the games vary depending on the teams miniatures or how much victory points they have or whatever. TIMES UP IT'S A TITAN!

The fact that they keep score makes it mentally harder than sports?
NFL players have to memorize hundreds upon hundreds of plays. They have to be able to read a defense's tendencies, and vice versa.
Basketball is a little more instinctual, but there's still a lot of mental skill there.
I'm not even going to begin to describe how much it takes mentally in baseball.
Hockey you always have to be thinking as well.

On a board, with many options with many outcomes, which will you pick? With that dice roll will you proceed in a choke-point where you will probably be suppressed? Or will you go the long way around that could possibly be countered? Or will you send in a special deploy? Will you destroy that cover or attack them from the inside so you can't be attacked from artillery? Besides, mine costs more than yours.

I'm not doubting that it's a tough mental game, I'm just saying sports are harder overall and sports are also very tough from a mental aspect.
Is the defense in zone or man? Maybe a cover 2? The linebacker is showing blitz, but he could be bluffing. Should I take a shot downfield and risk an interception or should I play it safe for a short gain?
I can play that game too.

Hmmm... shall I buy an artillery unit or a squad or heavy infantry? Shall I buy a Titan or shall I upgrade my current armies? Shall I buy a Monolith or a Nightbringer? I win. Tabletop is harder overall.

Yeah, two monkey-boys weighing 250 to 300 pounds bumping heads. Hockey players getting hit in the face by a flying puck knocking out teeth, and boxers getting punch-drunk.
Yeah, sports is very hard from a mental aspect!
I'll buy that!

You don't understand the games so you analyze them from a very general aspect. On the surface, baseball is a guy hitting a ball and running bases, football is people chasing a guy with a pigskin trying to tackle him, hockey is trying to hit a black circular object into a net, and basketball is trying to get a ball into a 10 foot high cylinder. There's much more to those sports than all of that, so you sound very ignorant.

It's better than being a tactician who has so much options with so much outcomes!

You, out of ALL people is talking about ignorance? You don't even know shit about Tabletop games. I have played sports before (scary huh?) and you haven't played Warhammer 40,000. Winner of most ignorant person of 2009!

Tiddly Winks is trying to flip little round plastic chips into a plastic cup!
So, what's the difference?
All of these games are for retarded morons.
Video games, especially strategy games take a lot of planning and it's very easy to be mislead down the wrong path. I have played Dungeons & Dragons on a computer game, and I once had a computer game named Starflight. The graphics sucked but it was a very complex game and it took days to play it.
I have
Train Simulator on my computer. It's like operating a real diesel locomotive, and it takes as much skill to operate as the real thing. Of course you use a mouse to work all the controls on the dashboard but you can get a control panel with actual movable levers, and it plugs into the USB port on the back of the computer and it comes with a CD disk to install the necessary software to make it work.
It's a beautiful (not game) but simulator program. It's like sitting in the cab of a locomotive and you drive a train through mountainous scenery. It's really beautiful. You can also switch to exterior view to see what your train looks like and get a better view of the scenery, but to work the controls you have to go back to cab view.
I have many passenger and freight routs from the USA to Germany, Switzerland, Japan, and European routs. My favorite is the high speed ICE Inter Continental Express, an electric locomotive that goes about 180 miles per hour and it take 6 hours to complete the whole rout. Another favorite of mine is The Heidi Express, an electric rout that goes through the Swiss Alps.
It is very easy to screw up and wreck a train. All it take is a moment of carelessness, and when you have a train wreck, it switches to the external view so you can watch the whole disastrous results in action, and believe me, it looks very real! I have had boxcars going over a cliff or tumbling down a steep hillside.
Now, what was that you were saying about Tiddly Winks?
No wait! you were talking about sports. I forget.
Actually there really isn't that much difference between Tiddly Winks and sports.
Both are for drooling morons!
The only difference is, Tiddly Winkers don't end up going to jail.
