Earl wrote:The time where I live is now 11:42 p.m. Iâ??ve been rather busy today and have not had time to submit a post to this topic until now. I hate to say this, but I agree with most of what Brigan says. But I certainly donâ??t believe that Fat Man is a despicable person. Heâ??s deeply troubled, but not despicable. I can say this because Iâ??ve gotten to know him personally and consider him to be a friend. Iâ??m not meaning to put him down by saying this; but to use a tired cliché, his bark is worse than his bite.

Fat Man, what youâ??ve got to realize is that employees of the sort you dealt with at the Don Haskins Sports Center do not set the prices of the merchandise purchased at such establishments. All theyâ??re doing is what their employers tell them to do. As Brigan pointed out, Don Haskins is not the only establishment to charge high prices. Just go to any cinema. I understand your frustration concerning water with the people who were running the refreshments stand, but your rude reaction to the popcorn guy was totally unjustified. Again, these working people were just doing what their employers had told them to do. If they had done otherwise, they would have been fired. You should put yourself in the position of these people and think how you would feel if a total stranger was extremely rude and insulting to you. Fat Man, this is actually a form of bullying.

If you met a white person who had been a crime victim at the hands of blacks, wouldnâ??t you tell him that he should not be prejudiced against all blacks? You would say that prejudice is unfair to all the blacks who are decent, law-abiding people. I understand being prejudiced, as I used to have the same problem myself. But as we go through life, we should try to deal with our weaknesses, correct our faults, and overcome our problems so we can become stronger, happier human beings. We call that personal growth.

You cannot hold all athletes, coaches, and sports fans responsible for the terrible abuse that you suffered when you were in school. Those who abused you are personally responsible for what they did to you. They and no one else. Young athletes and sports fans who have been members of this website are not responsible for what happened to you. They had not even come into the world. Yes, today there are â??jocksâ? and coaches who are jerks and even thugs; but others do not bear their guilt. Surely you can see a radical difference between someone like Samdaman and someone else like SportsGuy92 or Andy. You donâ??t have to be in complete agreement with them to realize that theyâ??re good kids.

Regarding your comment that the part of your brain that governs your politeness towards athletes and sports fans has been damaged, I doubt that you have suffered any such brain damage. I say this not to put you down, but just to speak the truth. You just have a bad attitude, which is a common failing of us all. Weâ??ve all had bad attitudes of one kind or another.

When I graduated from high school, I was so sick and tired of the cliquishness of high-school social life that I had become prejudiced against football players. But over the years I was glad to hear about individual players or former players who didnâ??t fit the negative arrogant jock or bully stereotype.

When you judge people as members of a group instead of viewing them as individuals, you run the risk of depriving yourself of friendships. Today my friends include several guys who played football in high school who were never arrogant and never bullied anyone. One of them, who is an elder in my congregation, recently told me that he would never give the time of day to former teammates of his who had bullied other students. And none of them are offended because I happen to not be a sports fan.
Thank you Earl.

Though we don't always agree, I have to admit, sometimes I do go way over the top. I respect you as a friend.

At least you understand my anger.

Yeah, I understand that the employees at the sports center are worried about losing their jobs but it's still immoral and criminal to charge $3.25 just for a cup of water! The people at the top who run the sports center, they are scum as far as I'm concerned if they set a policy that one is to be charged $3.25 just for a cup of water!

Also . . . . .

If Brigan had not referred to me as "despicable" but merely disagreed with me I would not have come down quite as hard.

But when he arrived as a new member, the first thing he does is get on my case when he doesn't know a damn thing about me and what I have been through.

I'm having problems with my computer, and I got screwed on a new motherboard I bought for it yesterday.

The new motherboard does not work at all, so I put the old one back in.

The new one is defective and they refuse to refund my money, so I'm out $60 dollars. I'm screwed.

My computer locked up twice this evening and I had to reboot. In fact, it locked up as I was typing this message, but after I rebooted, and reloaded the Mozilla Firefox browser, the text I was typing was still in the text window. Yeah! Mozilla Firefox is one really smart browser! It remembers where you left off, even after your computer crashes and you have to hit the reset button. It still remembers! It's much smarter than Microsoft.

Anyway . . . . .

With all these problems I've been having, I'm about ready to have another emotional breakdown.

Anyway, thanks, just for being a friend.

Welcome to sports sucks Brigan. You're stance is similiar to another member here, thesilentone. It seems you're an ocassional sportsfan...a leap year sports fan(I just made that one up  ). I've been growing more neutral/indifferent to sports, frankly I've grown an interest in other things, but I have to say all its supposed advantages from playing sports can achieved in doing other things, which athletes and their coaches don't tell you. For example teamwork; working together in a division/department in a company to finish a project. Also I think there should be a distinction between activities and sports. All sports are activities but not all activities are sports unless treated in a competitive manner like swimming for example. Swimming is actually useful though no matter what your stance on sports is especially if you make a living fishing in the body of water.

I like you're quote "The brute one yells, the smart one speaks, but the wise one Listens," but it feels incomplete what does the wise one actually do after listening? If he only listens and does nothing after the fact, he's essentially achieved nothing. What he does after listening would show his true wisdom. :D
"We believe in Vader, the Darth almighty, destroyer of Alderaan and the Sith. We believe in Luke, his only son, our Jedi. He was concieved by the power of the Force, and born of the senator Padme. Suffered under Darth Sidius, electrocuted, survived and partied with Ewoks. He descended to the Death Star, on the third hour he flew out in an Imperial ship and landed on Endor. He is seated on the right hand of Obi-Wan's ghost. He will come again to train Leia to be a Jedi. We believe? in Yoda.........:D

Dude, if they came from 4chan they're not Sportfans. see?

1) I just said you look like a "despicable" person if you continue to behave like that, Also you still keep the hateful towards a person (me) who has been polite all this time, yet you wish things like.

2) read my first post, You'll realize I went into the trouble of registering because I've seeing this Forum as a Guest, Posting your childhood story is making me read it for the 7th time If I'm not wrong, so yeah still knowing what you went through I still ask you to behave better. not to those that harmed you, but to those inside the Sport side and those out of it. as Earl just posted you're making everyone fit in the Stereotype you build of sportfans, little than you know, one day a Sportfan might be the best friend you could have, because it doesn't depends on beliefs it depends on how people behave to each other.

It's up on how people umm what's the word.... comprehend (Sorry english is not my original Language) to me It's to stay calm, analize the situation and then act the best way you can to solve the problem; While the two first are ways of imposing your view on things, you can use Violence or you can talk things out, But the best thing is. Always listen to what others have to say, even if you don't share their views you can learn a thing or two that can give you an heads up on how to face the situation, But that just me. Every mind is a whole world.

It was 105 degrees outside, and I came in hot and tired with sweat on my fat face, so anybody could tell that I was thirsty. DUH!!!

Except a moron!

And now, I have doubts about your level of intelligence.

I'm not an expert, but if I saw someone who was hot, tired, and sweaty when coming in from the heat, I would assume that person is thirsty and in need of a cool drink and not three kernels of salty popcorn.

But then, sports people don't have feelings, and are totally insensitive toward the feelings of other people. That's why football players rape women and why jocks bully students around in our schools. Of course, football players have no feelings. That's why they can butt heads together out in the field like billy goats.

No brain, no pain!

Let's talk about how jocks behave!

But you don't seem to give a damn about that! Do you!

These monkey boys get paid millions of dollars just to chase balls, and they can park their $100,000 dollars Hummers all day long in a 15 minute parking zone and never have to worry about having their vehicles towed away or even getting a ticket, and some jocks have even committed rape and gone unpunished while their victims get harassed after reporting the rape and sometimes have to move out of town and abandon their property.

Yes! This has actually happened.

And you call me despicable???

You're a pompous ass!

You come in here like a self-appointed nanny to focus only on my behavior.

Like, who the fuck are you? The National Sports Police???

Yeah! You must be some kind of sports enforcer!

Again, get off my ass!!! It's really starting to get sore!

Fat Man has been subject to years and years of physical and mental abuse. This gives him free reign to do whatever he likes to any sports fans. The world isn't fair and the only way you are ever going to get any justice is if you take it into your own hands and do something about it. Fat Man needs to make all the sports bores pay. THEY are the ones that are truley despicable. It's as if the anti-sports forces of the world came and personally signed Fat Man as their future. Fat Man is the chosen one. I fully support Fat Man, and bullies like you need to get out of our forum.

Ah! Thank you very much!

Yes, sometimes I do go way over the top, but I have a perfect right to be angry.

This is what happens when a society values sports, athletics more than academics.

The sports bores seem to forget, if it weren't for the nerds and techno-geeks whom they hate so much, they wouldn't have all of the wonderful technological toys that they all enjoy so much.

It's all made possible by the nerds and geeks who studied hard in school and passed their science and math courses, and gone on to college, and eventually working in fields of science and technology.

These sports morons seem to forget, there is no Santa Clause, There is no Easter Bunny, and there is no Tooth Fairy.

Once again, thank you very much.

Hey, you know, this is the real deal.

I have read somewhere, that after some vigilantes killed a pedophile who molested children, a judge let them off. Yes, this actually happened.

The law isn't working anymore.

So, their will come a time when people will get so sick and tired of the declining quality of education in our schools, and so sick and tired of the bullying from the jocks in our schools, the people are going to start taking the law into their own hands.

So, fuck off!

Well, it's not just the sports monkeys.

There are other reasons why our system of justice is corrupt.

It's also big corporations, the banking system, crooked politicians, and sports is just a part of it.

There was once a time when I supported the ACLU, the American Civil Liberties Union, but not anymore!!!

That's because the ACLU is working with NAMBLA, the North American Man/Boy Love Association and they are trying to get the age of consent lowered in the USA. Right now it's 18 while in the UK and Canada it's 17, and eventually, they hope to get the age of consent laws completely repealed so that rich old men who smell bad can crawl into bed with children.

But, they don't belong in bed with children. They belong six feet underground!

Also, in the future, anybody who speaks out against NAMBLA will be charged with hate crimes.

I say . . . . . BRING IT ON!!!
