Sports and video games are both very common and both have a large fanbase, but the bigger question is, which one has more fans? Sports are incredibly popular, you know? The riots? But I'll tell you this, Grand Theft Auto IV sold (said by Rockstar) over 6 Million copies in. One. Week. Now that's popularity for you! But which one has a bigger fanbase?

I would rather focus on the primary differences. I never knew a single video game player who shoved a specific game down my throat, nor who did anything beyond simply politely disagree with me if I said I didn't like a certain game.
Video gamers are a different breed of fan altogether. They generally mind their own business and just play their favorite games. The primary point of my post being they usually don't harass nor put someone down who isn't into their chosen passtime.
