We could keep going in circles on this. The bottom line is sports are very popular. Sports and entertainment are the two biggest pop culture interests.

Aren't sports entertainment? Still 54% video games over 46% sports, not debatable! 8% advantage to video games is srs buznezz!

Nope. Well, only if you think watching a bunch of strangers run around with a ball for hours on end is fun.

They are considered as entertainment, believe it or not.

No one here is saying sports aren't popular. We know they are, we just think they are stupid.

The bottom line is video games are far more popular on the internet(and by 8% in real life too with adults and by a landslide with the under 18 croud) , and you just can't admit it.

In the top 500 web sites by hits (http://www.alexa.com/topsites) Mostly search engines, and porn. At 59 is ESPNSportsZone. Then i got tired of looking for another sports page at about 250 pages. With the popularity of all the search engines, don't you find it a bit odd that no one looks up their favorite players? Their favorite teams? Oh yeah, they all just type in their favorites. Yet people cant figure out the website for yahoo and search for it. MMM HMM right.

Face it, the internet belongs to the geeks. There wouldn't be a single sports page if it weren't for the geeks. You should really be thanking us instead of trying to belittle us and trying (and failing) with all your little black heart to prove us wrong.

Who is "we"? The last time I checked, watching a game on TV happening two thousand miles away does not qualify someone as a member of the Bulldogs. But when they talk about something that they actually are a part of - our country, for example, all of a sudden it's "they." "They elected George Bush." "They started a war over oil." How is it that football fans are not a part of their country but are a part of a football team that they've never even seen in person?

I'll tell you how. It's plain and simple BullShit.
"We" don't get crap when a team wins, except the opportunity to buy overpriced sweatshop-made garbage and the annoying pre-written banter of some athlete who says the right things so that people will say, "Yeah, he REALLY gets it! He's one of us! He cares! What a nice guy!" YOU are not part of the team, you are merely a wallet to these big Baby Hueys who sulk like children when they don't get their way. Get over it people, you won nothing.

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for that idiot Polite24. We must not abuse the mentally challenged . When I write mean things to him in reply to his moronic defense of professional sports I feel like I'm disturbing a little sheep out grazing in his field with all of his other little sports sheepie buddies.. wait a moment...sorry.... screw the stupid bastard and all of his fellow knuckle dragger monkey boy shower roommates. Phew, that was close! C'mon back Polite, I need to practice on you some more. It feels almost as good as when I bloodied a jock's head against a cinder block wall in the distant past. Baaaahhhhhhhh.

That must be one of the few times Sergey has ever said something that sounds remotely like praising sports. In fact, that might be the only time. It's a sign of a devoted member, defending the website with such brutal force and turning down anyone who dares offer opposite voice. I have you down as rather a defender of the website, Sergey. You never seem to surrender to the will of any sports fan. Good solidarity. You're a troll but you're a darn good one too!

And yes abitagirl, that is how easily sports fans are amused. I mean, tiny things please tiny minds, although the fans and team managers have to make it the exact opposite of tiny, with all these multi-million dollar salaries, fan sites and gigantic stadiums that have the capacity of small cities. A bit excessive in my opinion. When you realise one stadium in the world has nearly 200,000 seats for the single purpose of letting these people watch men play a child's game, it makes you wonder how the world could come to place such enormous emphasis on something so trivial. I mean, who was the idiot that had to take sports beyond being spare-time pastimes and make an enormous, materialistic enterprise out of them? Sports hold too much influence on the world today. They've gone out of control. To many they aren't games - they're the difference between life and death. As Samdaman proudly announced on his Sporting News profile, "Sports are everything"! That is what happens to people's minds when you let child's games become too rampant in society.

i_like_1981, do you realize that when Samdaman :x and other guys say, "Sports are everything," they're putting sports in the place of God? This is the very definition of idolatry. I'm not talking about guys who just really love sports. As an example of a reasonable attitude, both Polite24 and SportsGuy92 said that science was more important than sports. The attitude expressed by Samdaman :x actually goes beyond that point. How pathetic, to use Cycloptichorn's favorite word.

I completely agree Earl. The way these guys make them sound you would believe that sports had the ability to cure all disease, end all conflicts in the world and bring everyone together in peace and harmony. Well, anyone who treats sports like religion seriously needs to start looking beyond their narrow mind. Polite24 and SportsGuy92 may not fully understand why some of the members here have such an avid dislike for sports and everything to do with them but at least they can see that sports aren't the most important thing in the world. Really, as I keep saying, they're just pastimes. Kicking a ball round with your mates is meant to be a bit of a laugh and a time-passing activity. Some people, however, have to take it way too far and describe sports as being "everything". Anyone who thinks that sports are "everything" has very much got a narrow perception of the real world and needs to start broadening their mind a bit. There are far more important things going on today that do not relate to sports in the tiniest fraction and to lord these games over such things is a sign of ignorance. Samdaman seems to have been brainwashed. I don't know what happened to him but something must have happened to him, some part of his life must have turned him in this direction, some influence must have warped him to elevate sports to the status of religion, something everyone should submit to. I hate to think what his area is like.
