Video games is debateable. They draw a lot of interest from kids but few adults play them.

I like The Office but 50 percent of the people in the USA don't watch it. Get real.

Friends? As in the TV show? Or having friends? Either way you're wrong, because again 50 percent of all people don't like one single TV show and if it's about having friends that doesn't even make sense.

There are many more sports fans than motorcycle or auto enthuiasts.

Surfing the Web? That qualifies as an interest? Do you realize how many different types of things there are on the web? One of the biggest things that people look for on the web is sports related stuff.

Books are not more popular than sports. That may be sad, but it's the truth.

I have no way of truly knowing, but I find it doubtful that 40-50 percent of people jog or exercise.

Everyone likes music, ok. Not everyone loves dancing though. Sports are more popular than dancing.

The last comment is dumb, ignorant and uninformed. Wouldn't expect anything less from you though.

Yep.. twitter --another popular interest.

But you might as well give up arguing with Detroit. He is mentally ill and there's no coming back from that. There's no cure.

He compares all of sports to one TV show and claims victory.

That's like me comparing interest in the New York Bulls to interest in all of TV programming.

Of course, more people are interested in all television programming than one sports team of narrow interest.

But that comparison wouldn't be fair. He can't see that though because... he's predisposed to a certain way of thinking.

I didn't compare TV shows to anything. I said there's no way 40-50 percent of people in the USA watch their show. I never once said anything in regards to those shows vs, sports.

I'm the mentally ill one? Try some reading comprehension.

http://pewresearch.org/pubs/1048/video- ... layers-too

More than half of American adults age 18 and older (53%) play video games, and about one-in-five adults (21%) play everyday or almost everyday. While the number of video gamers among adults is substantial, it is still well under the number of teens who play. Fully 97% of teens play video games.

soooo.........
Yeah, so hardley any adults just 54% which happens to be 8% more then those who follow sports. Stings doesn't it?

From a list of the top 500 word searches on google, from most popular down, sports is like number four hundred and something, the first sports related term on the list is NASCAR at about three hundred and something then Anna Kournikova about 20 below that. Now just a smattering of things that are more popular than sports searches are, the Holocaust, the IRS, Dogfart, Prom dresses, diabetes, bestiality, Pokemon, and lupus.

Because sports fans already know how to find their sports info.

ESPN.com, NFL.com, MLB.com, NHL.com, NBA.com, etc. It's all pretty self-explanatory.

Go look at newspaper websites. The most read articles or most commented on always have sports at or near the top.

Newspapers? What's that? Oh yeah, those are those little whinny bitches that complain because nobody will buy them and nobody wants to go to their websites that they want to try to charge for. Sure, their last hope is to play to the lowest denominator. After all they can print big purtty pictures of hot sweaty guys.

And people don't know how to find hotmail?? They search for other search engines, yet they all know how to find their sports pages. Face it, they just aren't as popular as you thought.

What a pleasant surprise! I know most normal people only have a casual interest in sports at most and many people have no interest at all. But to come in LAST out of 500! WOW!

It's quite comical that you guys base your opinions off that, Forget TV ratings, attendance, and general interest in sports among people all around.

That is what we were talking about! You were the one that said that one of the biggest things people look for on the web is sports relates stuff. Use your brain parts!

Still 54% video games
46% sports

Using a search engine isn't the only way to surf the web buddy.

We could keep going in circles on this. The bottom line is sports are very popular. Sports and entertainment are the two biggest pop culture interests.
