I know what I'll do. To console myself, I'll go watch a Brian Bosworth movie. :P

It's about damn time!

I remember the advert for this. I was just thinking, "Great, more sports -- whoop-dee-shit."

Here's the advert, in case anyone's wondering. No idea who the woman in it is, but man does she sound like a chav!

Setanta goes off air in Great Britain

Setanta's channels have gone off the air in Great Britain after the Irish sports broadcaster's British operations were put in the hands of administrators Deloitte.

Deloitte was appointed by Setanta at 2:30pm today after last-ditch efforts to secure a rescue package failed.

200 jobs have been lost with immediate effect as a result of the collapse.

"This is a sad day for all concerned," said Setanta chairman Sir Robin Miller. "Since its inspired inception a number of years ago, Setanta and its financial backers, have invested hundreds of millions of pounds buying UK and international sports rights. With the hard work and dedication of its staff, a pay TV broadcaster was created which entertained people in three million homes with top-class sport.

"Unfortunately, in a difficult and highly competitive market, and despite strenuous efforts by the board and management, it has not been possible to find sufficient additional funds in the time available to ensure its survival."

Neville Kahn, Lee Manning and Nick Edwards of Deloitte have been appointed joint administrators to Setanta Sport Ltd and Setanta Transmissions (UK) Ltd. It is understood that Setanta Ireland and Setanta's other international operations, including those in the United States, are not affected by these appointments and will continue broadcasting.

In a statement, Neville Kahn said: "After a huge effort by the Setanta board, management team and its backers, it has not been possible to save the GB business, which will be wound down in due course. This decision means that it will shortly cease broadcasting to its customers in Great Britain.

"However, the international and Ireland businesses continue to trade on air whilst we are in discussions with parties to take on those businesses as going concerns.

"Regrettably, approximately 200 employees will be made redundant in respect of the GB business. Setanta has today suspended the collection of subscription payments from customers in Great Britain.

"Setanta customers should go to http://www.setanta.com for further information. We can confirm that no further monthly subscriptions or direct debits will be accepted from customers of the UK business."

Thank God, this has happened. One less sh!tfest on our T.V.'s.

This is scary!

Yeah, I would love to see all sports channels go El Foldo and turn belly up.

But the scary part is . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . all the drooling slack-jawed knuckle-dragging moronic sports fans will riot and go on a rampage and hit the streets, breaking shop windows, setting fires, overturning cars, raping women and butt-banging kids, then Martial Law might have to be declared.

But even Martial Law won't stop the riots, because it will be world wide.

I always thought that it would be a nuclear war that might end the world, but actually, the nukes will remain in their silos while our cities are burned down to the ground as we enter a new dark age.

It's bad enough when sports fans riot in the streets after their favorite team loses. Of course they even riot when their favorite team wins, but if we think the rioting is bad now, it would be even worse if all the sports channels went off the air. We would have total world-wide anarchy!

So, I say, that maybe we really do need to keep the sports channels on TV as long as we limit their numbers.

That way, all the sports fans will have their pacifiers to suck on!

Gee! I'm a fat bitch!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Not to mention sports channels probably help to keep some sporting events off the non-sports channels (although not nearly enough).

That is so true, I have only just noticed now much time Wimbledon takes up on the BBC. Worst of all the BBC is funded by the tax payer and I am paying for that! Well it could be worse the BBC could show Cricket! If they ever did it would make me do this:

Just make sure to warn people, first. If you must use it, announce it by shouting, "IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZAH!"

You may then proceed to

Personally I'm delighted to hear a sports channel is going down. Particularly Setanta as I remember one of their adverts being exceptionally bad. I would also like to see Sky Sports go off the air - shame that ain't likely!
