The locations and route have been changing each time they run this event (i.e. every second year). This year it starts with Scrutineering, and the "Formula Sun Grand Prix" at the Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, NY.

The Scrutineering is pretty self explanatory, and the "Formula Sun Grand Prix" (FSGP) is held on a closed track, for final testing and qualifying for the main road race. (Must meet minimum safety and performance benchmarks to qualify).

After the Formula Sun Grand Prix, there is a rest / display day in Rochester, NY, and then the main road race starts - 8 states / 1,650 miles / 2,655 kilometres, in 8 days.
