No ofense to those who are teachers, heck, i was one at one time. And not all teachers "can't" but a lot of those who can't, do teach.
Anyway, here it goes.

Coaching kids is a pretty big responsibility.

I know huh! Simply sitting down and telling the kids to play, what a big responsibility!

Can be much more to it then that if you are a good coach, and there's things that don't even involve sports.

At my school we just run a lap every day then we either play whatever we want or the teachers choose some sports we HAVE to play. Or we just go to the gym. I hate mandatory P.E.

That's gym class. I'm talking about being on a team. You have your coaches that only care about winning and could care less if the kids do poorly academically or in life.

Sportsguy92 told me I should do my gym class. Someone who really wants to debate is telling me what to do, I have an idea for him: GET OFF OF THESE FORUMS!

Sergey has a point, Polite24. A lot of PE teachers are quite inept and tend to slip away the moment they've got their whole class playing, and bullying happens because there is no responsible adult properly monitoring people's behaviour. Perhaps your gym teachers were a bit more responsible, but some don't really care about the wellbeing of their students - as long as they have people playing, they're happy. That's probably why jocks tend to think they own the place.

Good post, Katrin. Thanks. Again, there are reasons why I shamelessly promote the PE4LIfe program.

Hi, Sergey. Unless I'm mistaken (and please correct me if I'm wrong), I don't remember SportsGuy92 saying that you should be forced to take P.E. Both he and Polite24 do not support mandatory P.E. for nonathletic students.

It is a big responsibility, very much so like training a puppy not to piddle on the carpet. Bully training (aka sports training) though, just doesn't seem as necessary as dog training.

Why you guys speak on things you have no clue about is beyond me, but I'll bite anyway.

If done correctly, a coach can have a huge impact on a kids life. It's about developing relationships with your players and getting to know them on more than just a football level. The coaches at my high school do a very poor job of this.

Because, i do have a puppy.

And besides why do you just assume none of us have had coaches? 99% of us on here have had coaches. A lot of the stories on here talk about the bad experiences with coaches. Even at that, 99% of us on here have been bullied by jocks, who were taught by coaches. A lot of us had "teachers" that were coaches in there spare time. A lot of the "teachers" taught other subjects because the gym class position was already filled. So where the hell do you get off telling us we have no clue about this stuff. You are the one with no clue!! You would know that if you just pulled your head out of your a$$ for just one minute. You are no different then all the athletes assuming all non athletic boys are gay. Then to tell us we don't have a clue what we are talking about. I tolerated you at first, but now it hardly seems worth it.

Completely ignore the second part of the post where I said there are coaches that are bad at it. You then go on to argue against me that you know coaches that are bad at it.
