Hello, I'm MysteryGuy, from Portugal and I'm 14 years old. I'm a nerdy teenager who likes programming, especially web programming. I usually help my friends and relatives with PC questions.

I'm in 8th grade, never failed a year, and I'm good at all my subjects, minus P.E. and languages (with the sole exception of English, which I love).

I always hated competitive sports, and everyday I hate them more. No, I like sports, those that are just for self enjoyment and being active, I go rowing everyday for example, about 2 hours a day, it calms me down, hearing the sounds and splashes of the water and looking at the sunshine. I just don't like the competitive aspect of some sports like football. And I hate that people just say I'm gay for not liking football. Still, I'm not very sporty :P, although I enjoy them when I practice.

At grade 5-6 I was bullied quite often, by the jocks, they would usually call me lots of swear words and physically harm me, but I was always trying to fight back, although it didn't work very well.

But in grade 7, when I changed class and one of the worst jocks got expelled from school and was taken away from his parents, I was quite happy. My new class actually respected my thoughts and ideas and I slowly earned everyday more respect, as I would fix their PCs/laptops in exchange for nothing and I knew what I was doing.

In grade 8, which is the grade I currently am (or was, it's summer break :P), I was in the same class, and I have to say I was happy, as they still respected me. But there was a slight problem. They would always talk in class about useless stuff like how a team won a game or which color to paint fingernails and sometimes yelling out loud to the whole class, so my mother and the teachers themselves decided to switch me again, as I was getting bad results because of my class.

Now I spend most of the summer either rowing, programming or play games, of course I still eat, sleep, take showers and so on... :P.

Well, thank you for taking the time to read my post and I hope I will fit in nicely.

Contrary to the stereotype, many men who have no interest in sports are not sedentary. For over two years I've been working on a bodybuilding program with a personal trainer at a health club. Usually, I have four workouts per week. One of our formerly active members last year was a Navy SEAL and a combat veteran. Neither he nor his son, who also became a Navy SEAL, participated in any sport when they were in high school.

That's absolutely ridiculous. There have been gay football players. The most recent gay college player I've heard about is Brian Sims; and the most recent NFL player is Esera Tuaolo, who came out after he had retired. There are others, but they are afraid to come out.

Check out the en.wikipedia.org article on Raoul Wallenberg, who was one of the greatest heroes of World War II. He was a Swedish humanitarian who saved the lives of thousands of Hungarian Jews from the German Nazis and their Hungarian fascist accomplices. He was an extremely courageous man who put his life on the line for those who were helpless. If you do a Google search, you will also find a number of Wallenberg websites. Wallenberg was a highly educated man who, according to his half-sister, "detested competitive team sports." Not exactly a wimp, I'd say.

Bullies are cowards. You can take pride in the fact that you tried to fight back.

I think you will. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me or any of the other members. As you probably already know, the PM feature is available for private communication. Again, welcome.

Good morning MysteryGuy and welcome to our forums.

I haven't been doing much posting lately, because I've been working on my new YouTube channel.

It's about science, and evolution, also intellectual and academic freedom.

Here is my YouTube channel.

Science Wins! Creationism Loses! We have the fossils! WE WIN!
BigFatMan1951's Channel
http://www.youtube.com/user/BigFatMan1951#p/a

I was also bullied around in school, and recently, a few months ago our forum was SPAMmed by sports fan cyber-bullies from 4chan.

You might want to check out my topic which I titled . . .

3 Years of Cyber-Bullying By Religious Fanatics On YouTube!
http://www.sportssuck.org/phpbb2/viewto ... f=7&t=4617

I have been rather busy yesterday.

One of my favorite YouTube channels by Thunderf00t was SPAMMed in the Channel Comments.

His channel is . . . . .

Science and Education for the win!
Thunderf00t's Channel
http://www.youtube.com/user/Thunderf00t

Yesterday afternoon I sent Thunderf00t a private message informing him that his Channel Comments was getting SPAMmed.

For the past three years, many YouTube channels on science and Evolution have come under attack from religious cyber-bullies. They use all kinds of tactics , like false flagging, that is, flagging videos on Evolution as being inappropriate for minors, and filing false DMCA claims, which is the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and as a result, educational channels have been suspended and shut down, and then they had to fight and some even had to get lawyers to help them get their channels reinstated again.

Yeah! Thanks to our modern technology, and the Internet, sports fans and religious fanatics now have a new bullying tool. They only want their opinions heard while trying to shut everybody else down.

I've come to the conclusion that sports and organized religion are two of the most corrupt entities in today's world.

Welcome MysteryGuy! I definitely can relate to you in many ways, I myself am a self proclaimed nerdy teenager (I am merely one year older than yourself), however I'm not as advanced in computer technology, but I'm quite interested in many other academic pursuits such as science, history (I mostly enjoy learning about ancient civilizations such as ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, and I enjoy the 20th century even more so, with topics such as Nazi Germany, World War II, the Soviet Union, and the Cold War (there really were so many bad things in that century all over the world, however that results in very interesting history, as we must not forget the problems of the past and the problems that caused them)), literature, music, architecture (this isn't really much of an "academic" pursuit at the time, as I'm not remotely far enough to take such specific classes, but I hope to in the future, and at the moment, I focus a lot of my spare time learning about architecture and creating my own works), and many others.

I didn't always hate sports, I just didn't have much of an interest in them. It's hard for me to put an exact date, or even year, of when I began to hate sports. When I began to hate them, it was for a variety of reasons, in which I have likely explained in some of my previous posts.

I wasn't a major victim of bullying until grade 7, where it was quite brutal. If you can read my introduction post (of which you don't have to do, it is a pretty long post) in the introduction thread I started when I first joined this site, you'll get a good understanding of my timeline of sports, bullying, and other issues. But in my introduction post, I mentioned a sport that the group I hung out with in grade 7 at recess forced me to play, which involved beating others with large logs (it wasn't play beating, it was completely brutal). It was similar to tag, with someone who is "It" and trying to make someone else "It", but instead of simply "tagging" them, you had to beat someone with the log until they bled to make them "It". Whenever someone else was it, they would specifically target me because I was the least liked in the group, so I received my share of beatings. Then, when I was it, they would change the rules to my disadvantage, allowing the people who were not "It", to throw stones at me to avoid me, along with other disadvantages for me. We would also play a sport which was either one on one, or sometimes everyone split in half into teams, where you could pretty much find anything suitable for a weapon in the environment and you'd have to fight the other person/team, and the game usually ended far after someone had gotten hurt. Eventually, that group began to use drugs so I had to find a new group to hang out with in early grade 8. I found the group of "nerds" who I felt I belonged with and could relate to. But even though I no longer had to "hang out" with my regular bullies, I was still a victim by the jocks. I got into a big fight with one of them, of which I won (he wasn't a big person, he just found it fun to pick on others, and somehow believed that he was a good fighter), but he still continued to taunt me, just from a distance from then on. I've had countless other problems with sports.

It's good to know that some of your problems with bullies were resolved in grade 7, I myself had a similar event when I started grade 9 where we could choose our classes and all academic classes were split up into three different types of classes based on how good a person does in those classes among other things, these three types of classes were "applied" (for people who aren't that good in their classes and don't focus well), "academic" (this is what I took in the school year that just ended, it is for the students who succeed in their classes and can focus well, however I disliked these classes because I didn't feel remotely challenged and many people who weren't so smart took them for some reason, overestimating their intelligence) and "International Baccalaureate" (these classes are for the very advanced students who achieve very high marks and are devoted to their academic pursuits. These classes aren't offered at many schools because it is a very advanced type of class. I will be taking these classes next school year). Since I didn't take any applied courses, I found myself in few classes with people who had bullied me previously. But I still encountered them in the halls and in other classes which didn't have the skill based divisions, such as electives like art, music, PE, and tech classes.

Anyway, I welcome you to this forum, and I know you will make a good addition to this site. (I apologize for the amount of time it took me to respond, I began drafting up a response last night until I realized that it was 5:00 AM and figured I should probably be heading to bed, and I planned on finishing my response earlier, but I had a bad Internet connection throughout most of the day)
