You can just see it happening...

This is a supposed transcript of a radio conversation between a US Naval ship and Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland. I understand that there's actually a full transcript of this conversation lurking about somewhere. If anyone has is, send it to me!

US SHIP: Please divert your course 0.5 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

CANADIAN REPLY: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

US SHIP: This is the Captain of the US Navy Ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

CANADIAN REPLY: No, I say again, divert YOUR course!

US SHIP: THIS IS THE USS MISSOURI. WE ARE A LARGE BATTLESHIP OF THE US NAVY. DIVERT YOUR COURSE NOW OR WE WILL TAKE APPROPRIATE AND DRASTIC MEASURES!!!!

CANADIAN REPLY: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

Oh, I have seen that somewhere.
There are, I think, variations of it. There was one for the Royal Navy and their supposed arguement near the Scottish coast, one for the French navy, another rumour that started in the USSR and spilled over into the Russian Federation, the list is quite enormous.

To break many hearts, I will say that this is NOT possible. It is a joke.
Lighthouses nowdays, have their own ways of identifying that they are lighthouses, and the transcript above will not happen. (and most lighthouses are now too low to be detected by radar, and will not be detected by sonar, so there is no reason in which the USS Missouri will say such things, and I cannot understand how they managed to contact that lighthouse in the first place)

I like your avatar, HugeFanOfBadReligion. An old album cover... that was one of the possibilities I considered for my avatar before I opted to make my own 1981 logo. I think I'll stick to this. It's good to have one consistent avatar as a calling card on the internet so that people from other forums will recognise your presence easier.

Thanks. There where several other albums that I attempted to use as my avatar a while ago, however all of them were either too large or took up to much memory to use as an avatar, and I wouldn't put in an effort to resize them. However when I tried to use the one I'm using now, again it was too large, but I had some time on my hands so I resized it and used it. I think I'll stick with it for a while, but who knows.
