What I think about sports

(My name is Imwimpyandprud for a reason. Everyone on my sorts team called me prud. I don't play anymore)
My dad always loved sports. My cousins and there dads LOVE sports. My sisters even played sports. And being the only other boy in the family, my dad couldn't wait to sign me up for sports.
And then came the day I got realized......sports suck. I always thought I was alone. My dad is disappointed in me. When I was 12 he was like "Do you want to play football yet?" and I was like no. I just want to say I am so glad there are others like me out there that know sports are stupid. I mean I don't mind shooting hoops with friends, who doesn't? But when I have to sing up for a team and practice all the time, I just give up.
Thanks for making me feel welcomed

Allow me to be the very first to welcome you to our anti-sports forum.
Yeah! Sports sucks the big one! It really bites the bugle!
Once again, welcome to our forum.

Welcome to the forum, Imwimpyandprud. I did of course think that you meant to say "proud" at the end of your username but I'm wrong on this account.
There's nothing to be ashamed about by not bothering to join a sports team. Heck, if you're not interested in it, there's absolutely no law forcing you to do it. But people will often make it feel that way and it's sad that people's attentions are being diverted from their ideal pursuits in life for the purpose of satisfying their parents and peers by joining a sports team. It seems to be more of a problem in America than over here in Britain, the sports and masculinity issue. Of course, I was often insulted and harassed for actively showing a disinterest in sports but the overall pressure on me to join a team was far less overwhelming than a lot of American kids seem to have to endure. This is one thing that has turned me into an active sports HATER - the fact that there are so many overbearing sports fans and players that are determined to make their peers and even their children feel worthless if they don't bother to play competitive sports even when they're succeeding in other areas of life. What exactly is the big deal about sports? What makes them the difference between being a "real man" and a "wimp" to some people? That is the question that drives me to post on here regularly...
So, welcome to the forum. And if you wish to rant about the overwhelming presence of sports in today's society and the pressure and torment they can exert on young people, this place is always open. I am also agitated at a world that has made a religion out of mere play games and turned some people into drones that just cannot accept others with less favourable opinions on these games.
Best regards,

Welcome to the forum, Imwimpyandprud!

Sorry I'm late posting.
You say that everyone on your sports team called you "prud." Do you mean "prude"? Just curious. Perhaps I'm missing something.
I've been working out at a health club for over two years, but I've never had an interest in sports.
You're not wimpy. It's easy to follow the crowd. Being independent is not always easy.
Real wimps come in all sizes and shapes, and by "wimp" I mean a moral coward. My best friend was a basketball player in high school. He still loved to play basketball as a form of recreation when he was attending a university. But he eventually became a wimp. I saw it happen.
