God gives me hope and helps me when I'm not feeling so well. He inspires me to be a better person. Why are you so against him?

Uh! That's God???
BUUUUUUUUUAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
YEAH RIGHT!!!
No, I have nothing against God.
Only against pedophile priests and butt-banging Bishops who can't keep their penises out of little boys!
Excuse me, but a priest is NOT God, and a Bishop and NOT God, and a Cardinal is NOT God.
No, a Cardinal is just a red bird. OK??? Ya got that now?
And the Pope (or should I say the Poop?) is also NOT God.
No man is God!
WOW! You must be a total retard!
Thanks for making my day!
I needed a good laugh!

Fat Man, as I read your post, I had no problem with it until I read the following:

I understand your rage at the pedophile priests. I nearly went through the roof of my home when I watched a documentary about the Porter case more than ten years ago -- which indicated that he had been protected by other priests who knew what he was doing (at least one of whom actually caught him in the act!), shuffled from parish to parish where he molested other young boys.
But that's beside the point here. I wish you would be more
gentle in expressing some of your reactions, especially towards those who might be expected to be sensitive. I'm sure Safety wasn't saying that any priest is God. You need to remember that you're dealing with a kid. (Not meaning to patronize you, Safety.) Whether you're addressing a teenage minor or a middle-aged adult is also beside the point. Any decent person who posts in a website's forum gets sick and tired of being personally insulted by someone who's never met him in person. I know how Safety feels because last week I was personally attacked without provocation at another website. So, I know how it feels. It can be quite aggravating, especially if the other person doesn't know exactly what you believe or hasn't taken the time to have an exchange with you for the purpose of understanding your point of view. In fact, it gets real old in a hurry.

Thanks, recovering_fan. I just know what it's like to be on the receiving end.

Wow, that's dark. Fat Man I don't want to be too critical but maybe you should be a bit more sensitive about the things you post.

Dark, yes, but, Oh! So true!
What the Catholic Church has been doing for centuries is rather dark and sinister and it should be brought out into the light of day and exposed for all to see.
Why do you suppose I have posted so many topics about The Inquisition?
All corrupt organizations need to be called out, whether it be the Republic Party or the Catholic Church, they need to be called out.
So, I'm blowing the whistle!!!

None of us is disputing the need to expose corruption in any organization (although I might add that the Catholic Church hasn't conducted an inquisition for some time). I'd even say that corruption
must be exposed in order to have a healthy society. The sports media historically has shied away from doing any investigative reporting to expose certain kinds of corruption in the world of sports. But that's not the point. The point is to be civil to the members of this forum. To call someone a moron or a retard simply because you disagree with him is not high class. One of the forum rules says that if another member, such as an abusive sports fan, flames you, then you have the right to flame back at him. That would not be my own immediate reaction, but I have no problem with this forum rule. Members should be mindful of the possible sensitivity of other members (as opposed to someone who's obviously
not sensitive, such as Samdaman

) or the possibility of another member's post being a misstatement of what that member actually believes. When you're quick to be rude to people on the slightest pretext, you drive people away from you. A lack of respect for others has caused many problems in society.

Well, when I was only just a kid, in the third grade I was already reading at the high school and the adult level. I was only in the 4th grade when I had read adult level books on the Inquisition.
So, at a very young age, I was more politically aware. That's another reason why I did not care for sports, because to me ALL sports were merely children's games being played by retarded adults.
I notice Safety's forum rank is Sportsman.
Uh huh! Now I understand.
For a sports fan, he my be very polite
but like all sports fans, he's not very bright!
Hey! That rhymes!

The Holy Office of the Inquisition still exists, but the name has been changed to The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
But it's still the same old corrupt organization.

Well, give him a break.
Not everyone can attend ivory tower schools like your glorious UTEP.
Some people just have to settle for attending one of the Public Ivies.

By the way, I thought the original picture was pretty funny, despite the fact that I am still (officially at least) Catholic.

At first, I was a bit distrustful of Safety because he had the slight tone of a 4channer in some of his older posts (you wouldn't remember the 4chan raids we had nearly a year ago now but they did incite rather a lot of uncertainty on here) but over time, I've come to appreciate his presence more. I think, as of now, he's the only pro-sports regular poster on these forums, so we're going to need a bit of contrasting viewpoint to keep the debates going. I heard someone say once that if we kept driving all the sports fans away, then basically most of the sports-related threads would go like: "I agree." "Yes, I also agree." "I must also agree." Quite right, you know, and that's not a good situation for a debating forum.
Best regards,

Well, when somebody says something stupid and moronic, I'm going to call him out on it, no matter how polite he might be.
When I posted the funny picture above, I was not attacking God.
An attack on the clergy of any church, Catholic or Protestant, is not an attack on God.
So, it really struck me as funny when Safety asked why I was against God.
I have nothing against God, but only the morons who claim to worship him.
I think God is too busy making galaxies, stars, and planets, or other universes to be bothered with our petty little affairs on some insignificant little two-bit planet around some hum-drum little yellow Class G sub dwarf star in some dime-a-dozen spiral galaxy.
The Catholic Church and so many of these moronic telephoney evangelists and Ecclesiass-holes make God look bad.
But it's really not God's fault.
I don't think God even gives a damn!
Life just goes on, and the rest of the universes just goes on.

So basically, you're against all conservative Christians? That's what you're saying.
