Hull City striker Marlon King has been released on bail following his arrest for allegedly assaulting a woman.

King was also questioned on suspicion of indecently assaulting the 20-year-old woman when he voluntarily attended a police station on Wednesday.

The woman was taken to hospital with a suspected broken nose and cut lip following the incidentat the Soho Revue Bar in London's West End on Saturday night.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed officers from Westminster CID were investigating the allegation.

He said: "A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been bailed to return on a date in February.''

Witnesses said that King, who was out celebrating Hull's 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday, approached the girl while she was with a group of friends.

A source told The Sun: "He was repeatedly pestering her and grabbing her bottom.

"She kept asking him to leave her alone and at one point he just turned and punched her.

"It was not a slap and it looked like she had a broken nose. There was blood dripping on her clothes and handbag."

The source added: "Some of his friends were trying to make out that it was all perfectly justified because she was pestering him.

"But it seemed very much like it was the other way round."

King, who is on loan at the KC Stadium from Wigan, has made 15 appearances for Hull so far this season, scoring five goals including the winner in the weekend's win over Boro.
