Hi Everyone. Im a Michigan Filmmaker, and i just stumbled across this site. Im very happy to see that this site exists.
I despise ALL sports. I see them as a complete waste of time and i cannot stomach the way people behave at sporting events, or when they get together to watch sports. I have seen people neglect their families for a sporting event. I have seen people selfishly glue themselves to a tv somewhere at WEDDINGS! I suppose at a deeper level, what bothers me more than anything is the selfish attitude that sports fan seem to have. "I dont care if it is your special day, the RED WINGS are playing. So im going to choose to be rude and take myself out of your special day. Carry on."
It's nonsense. Now some people may say films are a waste of time. But at least films can touch you, inspire you, and even educate you.
Its hard sometimes here in Michigan to find like-minded people. EVERYONE loves their sports here. Im not one of those that "pretend" to like them either, ie, joining a conversation about it in an attempt to appear interested. I'm pretty point blank. I simply say "I dont like sports". People always look at me like I have two heads. Well, Im being polite, because what i would like to say is, "I HATE sports and you should too because they are an utter waste of time".
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself in hopes of befriending some like minded people, as it can be a very lonely existence here in a state where people look at you like you have two heads if you say you dont like Sports. There are a lot of people interested in films and acting, many whom i have worked with, but most of them would rather watch a football game before doing a film!!! Its mind boggling to me. Anyway, thanks for listening!

Hey Moviemaker,
I'm in Michigan too, and I'm a CG artist/filmmaker, nice to meet you. What kind of films do you make? Where are you from in MI?

Welcome to the site, Movie Maker!

And guys, it's not necessary to quote the entire post above you. Especially if you're the first reply. :P

I think Ray's the main offender. I don't usually see the others do that. [Not being mean!]

Well, now he knows. And if he doesn't obey my word, I'll BAN him! I can do that, you know... :P

And Moviemaker, are you going to post more? Come on, we don't bite.

So "Forum Admin" ranks higher than "Captain?" I thought Ray outranked you for some reason, but I guess not.

I used to think my state was alone in its obsession with sports, but since coming here, I'm not so sure that's the case.

ha ha ha ha ha -that's hilarious --they look at you as if you have two heads! That's a great description of "the reaction". I know just what you mean. It's a foreign concept for some people. But anyway, welcome!

oh, is that bad? Somebody should tell me. Sometimes a house has to fall on me before I notice something. OK, I'll try not to quote too much.

Oops, Ray is "Site Admin" now. I need to be more observant, I guess.

Quoting's fine. If you want to reply to a specific part of a post, cut out the irrelevant parts and only keep what you're responding to (coincidentally, like I just did). If you're replying to the whole thing, try splitting it into segments. Takes time, yes, but it's easier to follow your thinking.

And yeah, Ray's the Site Admin. I may oversee the forum, but he oversees the entire friggin' site! So, he's still the boss.

Right, sir, sirdy-sir-sir?
