Not arguing for the sake of it, but if it doesn't effect you, couldn't you just choose not to watch/ participate?

When I went to school, PE was mandatory.

Also, in school, I was the typical nerd or geek. I did not care for sports, and I preferred to study science, math, and art instead.

We were often bullied around by the jocks in our school, and they would get away with it, and go unpunished.

So, sports did have an effect on me in school.

Now, at the age of 75, I can choose not to watch and not to participate.

But there are still young people going to school who still have no choice.

so, we speak for them!

We are their voice on the internet.

WE HATE SPORTS, SO GET USE TO IT! JIMBO!!!

Oh, by the way. A word of warning . . . . .

Right now, it says you're a "One-post wonder" while I'm a Regular member.

The more you post, the more your ranking changes.

As a Regular member, I can open up new topics, and I guess that since your a new member, you might still be able to do the same.

But depending on the nature of your posts, you might become a Regular, or else, you might earn the rank of Sports Bore.

The owners of this forum are planning to set up up so that Sports Bores will not be able to start new topics, but can only post messages in topics started by Regular members.

The reason for this is because Sports Bores are trying to SPAM these forums.

Therefore, if you start putting down those of us who don't like sports, you might earn the rank of Sports Bore. Then you won't be able to open up new topics, but only able to post in topics already started by other members.

So, whatever you do, please don't become a Sports Bore.

Just some friendly advice.

Our site doesn't affect you yet you choose to intrude and question us. Couldn't you just choose to mind your own business?

Isn't it as much our right to do what WE want as it is YOURS to do what you want?

Or is it a free country only for sports fans?

Hmm.. either it's by word or by force that we earn ourselves and others total freedom and owe nothing.

Why not hate sports?

Maybe if it wasn't shoved down our throats all the time, spoken about as if it were the most important thing ever, and we weren't always given the message that not liking sports is weird, their presence might be easier to deal with. Not to mention all the money being wasted on them, sports figures being treated as though they were gods, etc.

I totally agree with you.You think that sports are stupid and you are entitled to your opinion. And now that I think about it sports are beginning to get ridiculous. And since I have realized that I haven't been playing to many sports lately.People can call me a loser all they wan't but it isn't going to make me feel bad.they will have their time when they get made fun of! So they can just keep making themselves sound ridiculous I am going to do what I want and nobody can stop me.

I think some people misunderstand supporters of this website when they say they "hate" sports. I don't think most of them have any problem with ball games per se. They object to certain attitudes associated with the game. I don't think anyone was trying to discourage you from participating in sports. That is your choice. If I had a son who wanted to play football in junior high or high school, I would encourage him, as long as he kept his grades up and was kind to other kids off the playing field. You're smart to think for yourself and not allow others to pressure you into doing something that you really don't want to do. That way you won't get into trouble like some kids do (for example, drug abuse). Whether or not you participate in sports, you can still keep yourself in shape by staying on an exercise program. I wish I had started bodybuilding when I was a teenager instead of waiting until I was middle-aged. By the way, I appreciated your comments on physical fitness testing in your PE class.

I probably won't play sports for my school anymore but I will still keep up with my weight lifting and other workouts.

When I was in Collage back in the 1970s I took a one semester PE course in weight training. That was the first and only time that I enjoyed a PE course.

I don't like sports, but I did enjoy pumping iron, and I got to where I could leg press 650 pounds which of course was the entire stack of irons on the leg press machine. I know that I could have done more.

But I could only bench 150 pounds, which was kind of pathetic because there were guys much smaller who could bench press 250 pounds or more.

Men are suppose to have more upper-body strength while women have more lower body strength.

But I guess we fat guys who are kind of pear-shaped, we have more in common with woman than we have with other guys. I have more lower-body strength, and my upper-body is weak.

Oh well. I least with my short fat legs I can really kick ass!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Hey I may be 40-50 lbs overweight, but I still can outrun most of the anorexic bag-o-bone chicks and the featherweight jocks. Most chicks at my school are a mere 95-100 pounds, while I'm double that weight, so I could win a fight with them easily. I can even pummel jocks if I ever so wanted to, since their weight range is in the 130s, but I'm just that tame.

I wanted to do a weight training course in high school for PE but you had to waste your summer in a course that, if you passed, approved you for the class. Since I prefer not wasting my time on that, I'd rather stay like this.
