Ray brought up an interesting point. What would your life be like without sports? Think about it for a while, what other interests do you have to fall back on? It may seem like a stupid question to you but it may wake you up to the fact that you are very one dimensional with a very narrow view of life. I know you are not alone because the majority of guys I know are just like you.

It would suck, but I do have interests in other things.
I've loved sports since I knew what they were, is it a bad thing that my life would be worse without them. Think of your biggest passion or interest, and imagine your life without it. I don't see what point you're trying to make here.
I've had passions, like wanting an Air Force career and learning to fly, it's all I could think about for 18+ yrars until I found out I couldn't pass the physical, then I found out I couldn't get a private license either because of my eye condition. I don't have to imagine being without something I am passionate about, fortunately I had serious interests in other things as well, they became my new passions, I had something to fall back on. Think about it, all it would take is one accident to keep you from playing sports. What bugs me about people who are really into sports is that they expect me to be also, they look at me like I have two heads when they ask me if I heard the latest score of a game going on and I say "waht game?". They cannot imagine me not caring about a stupid ballgame. I know many people not into sports but they pretend to be just to fit in with society better. I don't give a shit what people think, I tell the truth. There are many things to be passionate about in life and they are much more fullfilling than sports.

What's particularly irritating is when guys who have a background in one sport or another look down with an arrogant attitude on nonathletic guys or are condescending towards them as if nonathletes are deficient, but expect everyone else to unconditionally respect them or even look up to them. These guys fail to recognize that respect is a two-way street.

Well said Earl,
However, I think you are overestimating the civility of the average sports enthusiast.

And I think we've given this buffoon way too much air time. What if I joined YOUR discussion and continually, over months, insisted that your views were wrong and told you that you needed to change your thinking and adopt MY WAY OF THINKING? I don't think you'd go for that. But it doesn't bother me much that this nut does that. I sort of expect it from sports drones. It's their nature. What does bother me is how we bend over backward to let this guy have his say and even apologize for our own members' statements. I say we have nothing to apologize for. This guy obviously wants to be insulted. Try it! He likes it!
Whatever your name is --Polite(?) --YOU ARE AN OBLIVIOUS BOOR!
In my P.E. class we had free play and me and a kid fought over which had better burgers, In N Out or Jack in the Box. I voted for In N Out, many people did, but we couldn't count them so we put them at a stalemate. Heh, that's we do during P.E., pretty interesting huh?

To you they are more fulfilling.
That's a huge problem with this board IMO. You guys talk on and on about how athletes and sports fans are wrong for looking down on you, then you turn around and do that exact same thing to athletes and sports fans you've never even had a chance to meet or get to know. So how are you guys any better?

How are you better than us? We don't go to your games, your sites etc. You go to ours.

Polite24,
In your rude response to my post you displayed your usual narrow minded view that nothing is really as fulfilling as sports, just things that are fulfilling to me .You are an ignorant non thinking child that will never grow up mentally. Thank God there are people that pursue greater goals than sports or we would still be using ox carts to get around ( and you would be scratching messages in a rock instead of using e-mail).Wait, I take that back, we wouldn't even have a written language! I have other things to add to this message but I know they would be lost on your dumb ass.

I said to you those things are more fulfilling than sports, but to someone else sports may be more fulfilling. That's all I was trying to say.
Yes, for a retarded drooling moronic imbecile, sports would be more fullfilling.
I'm fat and sassy! I love to sing & dance & stomp my feet & really rock your world!
All I want to hear from an ex-jock is "Will that be paper or plastic?" After that he can shut the fuck up!
