USA NOT A FREE COUNTRY! CHARLES DARWIN EXPELLED!

Post by Fat Man »

OK now. Come on forum members! Please respond to my topic here! OK?

Thank you!

There is a movie that I want very much to watch. It is titled "Creation" and it is about the life of Charles Darwin. The movie is produced in the UK and it is quite popular across the pond.

I would love very much to see this latest movie about Charles Darwin.

Image

But it won't be coming to a theater near you in the USA.

And why? Because it has been deemed too controversial!

Here is a web site article at:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... erica.html
Charles Darwin film 'too controversial for religious America'

A British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer.

By Anita Singh, Showbusiness Editor
Published: 4:53PM BST 11 Sep 2009

Creation, starring Paul Bettany, details Darwin's "struggle between faith and reason" as he wrote On The Origin of Species. It depicts him as a man who loses faith in God following the death of his beloved 10-year-old daughter, Annie.

he film was chosen to open the Toronto Film Festival and has its British premiere on Sunday. It has been sold in almost every territory around the world, from Australia to Scandinavia.

However, US distributors have resolutely passed on a film which will prove hugely divisive in a country where, according to a Gallup poll conducted in February, only 39 per cent of Americans believe in the theory of evolution.

Movieguide.org, an influential site which reviews films from a Christian perspective, described Darwin as the father of eugenics and denounced him as "a racist, a bigot and an 1800s naturalist whose legacy is mass murder". His "half-baked theory" directly influenced Adolf Hitler and led to "atrocities, crimes against humanity, cloning and genetic engineering", the site stated.

The film has sparked fierce debate on US Christian websites, with a typical comment dismissing evolution as "a silly theory with a serious lack of evidence to support it despite over a century of trying".

Jeremy Thomas, the Oscar-winning producer of Creation, said he was astonished that such attitudes exist 150 years after On The Origin of Species was published.

"That's what we're up against. In 2009. It's amazing," he said.

The film has no distributor in America. It has got a deal everywhere else in the world but in the US, and it's because of what the film is about. People have been saying this is the best film they've seen all year, yet nobody in the US has picked it up.

It is unbelievable to us that this is still a really hot potato in America. There's still a great belief that He made the world in six days. It's quite difficult for we in the UK to imagine religion in America. We live in a country which is no longer so religious. But in the US, outside of New York and LA, religion rules.

Charles Darwin is, I suppose, the hero of the film. But we tried to make the film in a very even-handed way. Darwin wasn't saying 'kill all religion', he never said such a thing, but he is a totem for people.

Creation was developed by BBC Films and the UK Film Council, and stars Bettany's real-life wife Jennifer Connelly as Darwin's deeply religious wife, Emma. It is based on the book, Annie's Box, by Darwin's great-great-grandson, Randal Keynes, and portrays the naturalist as a family man tormented by the death in 1851 of Annie, his favourite child. She is played in the film by 10-year-old newcomer Martha West, the daughter of The Wire star Dominic West.

Early reviews have raved about the film. The Hollywood Reporter said: "It would be a great shame if those with religious convictions spurned the film out of hand as they will find it even-handed and wise.

Mr Thomas, whose previous films include The Last Emperor and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, said he hoped the reviews would help to secure a distributor. In the UK, special screenings have been set up for Christian groups.

Why Creation, the new Charles Darwin movie, needs to be shown in America

By Lucy Jones Film Last updated: September 16th, 2009

re you bored of Darwin coverage yet? Well if you are, and you live in the US, youâ??ll be glad to know that the latest celebration of the scientistâ??s life to coincide with the 200th anniversary of his birth, wonâ??t be coming to a cinema near you.

Creation, a film about the evolution of On the Origin of Species, is a period drama which will be released in Britain next week. The producers have so far been unable to secure a distribution deal in America. Why? For fear of offending creationists.

Jeremy Thomas, the producer of Creation said:
It is unbelievable to us that this is still a really hot potato in America. Thereâ??s still a great belief that He made the world in six days. Itâ??s quite difficult for we in the UK to imagine religion in America. We live in a country which is no longer so religious. But in the US, outside of New York and LA, religion rules.
You only have to look at a book review posted last week on the popular Christian website movieguide.org to see why distributors would be reluctant to buy a film that depicts Darwin as a loving husband, a tactile father and a man glowing with integrity. Dr Ted Baehr writes: â??Darwinâ??s Racists - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow exposes the real Charles Darwin: a racist, a bigot and 1800â??s naturalist whose legacy is mass murderâ?.

And creationists are no fringe sect of American society. A Gallup Poll found earlier this year that only 39 percent of Americans say they â??believe in the theory of evolutionâ?. Unbelievable isnâ??t it? But you can see why distributors wouldnâ??t want to offend almost half of the United States.

So before watching the film the other day, I expected it to be controversial, a bit hammy and with perhaps a dollop of anti-Christian sentiment. Instead, I walked away with a head choc-full of reasons why America need to distribute it.

Firstly, Darwinâ??s theory is not new. Itâ??s been around since 1859. Thatâ??s 150 years. It is not shocking, nor is it threatening to the Christian faith - even if itâ??s brought to life with sideburns, empire line dresses and the melodramatic line, â??Youâ??ve killed God, Sir.â?

Secondly, the film is much more complex and delicate than a gauche serving up of the science versus religion debate. Despite the fact itâ??s clear in the film that Darwin loses his faith, the ending is ambiguous. Mrs Darwin, who remains a strongly convicted Christian throughout the film, is the person who gives the seal of approval to the book, packages it up and addresses it for her husband to send off to the publishers. Faith and evolution can stand side by side, the film tells us. The earliest instance of theistic evolution perhaps?

Thirdly, there are stunning passages that celebrate the natural world and its laws: the squelching barnacle flesh, shining in its ugly glory; the creaking music of a woodland before a fox strikes the neck of a rabbit; the grubs and mites that burrow through the corpse of a baby sparrow. Itâ??s not Disneyfied; itâ??s truthful.

And finally, the casting is utterly brilliant. Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly â?? married off screen and on â?? bring an intimacy and chemistry to the screen that is effortlessly powerful. As Bettany said: â??Thereâ??s a slight absentminded closeness that you see between Jennifer and I in the movie which is really, really usefulâ?. And when you hear that the actor lost his brother when he was a teenager, the scenes where he tries to cope with the death of a daughter are made all the more poignant.

What a pity that this beautiful film, a tonic to the hysteria of the far side of the Creationist sect and the militant atheists, is being passed over. It is reductive and stupid of US distributors to let it go, especially when other films like Expelled, Antichrist and Religulous have been successfully released. Will the US close its eyes and pander to the creationist sect forever?
And here's another article

Creation the movie: world exclusive trailer
This is the exclusive trailer for Creation, which tells the story of Charles Darwinâ??s struggle between faith and reason.

Published: 3:22PM BST 11 Jun 2009

The film is based on the book â??Annieâ??s Box:: Darwin, His Daughter, and Human Evolutionâ?? by British conservationist and author and a great-great-grandson of Charles Darwin, Randal Keynes. It explores the relationship between Darwin and his daughter Annie whose early death deeply affected him and his views on religion.

Charles Darwin and his wife are played by husband and wife duo Paul Bettany & Jennifer Connelly, in this film which brings to light the little-known private life of the scientist explorer.

The film portrays Darwin as a doting husband and father, torn between his love for his deeply religious wife and his own growing belief in evolutionary theory, which he would later print in his book On the Origin of the Species.

Writer Randal Keynes was a production consultant for the film.

Creation will be released in UK cinemas this September.
Yeah! But it won't be released in USA cinemas anytime soon! It will probably NEVER come to America.

We are losing our freedoms here in the US of fuckin' A!!!

I knew this was coming many years ago when I was just a kid in the 5th grade.

Yeah, I know! I have mentioned this several times before in these forums.

Anyway . . . . . . .

Back then, I had this teacher who was really Gung Ho when it came to sports. He preferred teaching PE over teaching science, math, or reading skills. I was lousy at sports due to a knee injury at the age of 4 which was the result of a car accident, so I could not run like the other kids, and most of the time, I walked with a limp.

My 5th grade teacher liked to humiliate me in the gym in front of all the other kids. One day he punched me in the stomach as hard as he could with a basketball, and I was doubled over in pain, and it seemed like an eternity before I could breath again.

Then there was another time when our class went to the school library. The other kids were allowed to check out any book they wanted. But I was not. There was an Astronomy book that I wanted. He would not allow me to check it out.

When I asked him why he allowed all the other kids to check out any book they wanted, and why I was not, we got into an argument and he dragged me out into the hallway, then he grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me back, bashing my head against the corner of the concrete block wall. I felt dizzy almost like being drunk.

The following year, that teacher was fired and could not get a teaching job anywhere else. But as for me, I had headaches and dizzy spells that gradually went away as I got much older in my 20s.

My 5th grade teacher was one of them religious fundamentalists and a sports fanatic.

Now today, I feel like I'm still getting my head bashed against the wall by my own country.

I WANT TO SEE THAT MOVIE DAMN IT!!!

BUT NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I CAN'T SEE THAT MOVIE BECAUSE I'M A US CITIZEN WITH NO RIGHTS ANYMORE!!!

To all the war veterans who fought for our freedom, and to all the brave soldiers who died fighting for this country, I'm sorry to say, it was all for nothing!

I was all for naught! Zip! Nada! Zilch! ZERO! The big goose egg! 0

If I could afford to travel, I would go to Brain-Washington D fuckin' C and in front of the Washington Monument, I would burn the flag!

Yes, there are some people out there who would say that I should be grateful to my dear ol' Uncle Sam for giving me an SSI disability check, and I get Home Health Care, food stamps, and Meals On Wheels.

OK! Yeah! Thank you Uncle Sam for all that.

But if I had gone to better schools where I could have gotten a decent education, and had not been beaten and bullied around resulting in an emotional and mental breakdown, and had not spent a few weeks in a nut-house where I was beaten some more and raped, then, I would not be all mentally and emotionally fucked up in the head, and then, I would not need SSI disability in the first place.

When I was a kid, I was not allowed to read Astronomy books.

Now that I'm an adult, going to be 58 on September 30, I'm still not allowed to see what I want to see. I will not be able to see this latest movie about the life of Charles Darwin.

Not unless I renounce my citizenship and move to another country where I can see the movie.

So, I'm still getting bullied around. I'm still getting raped!

No, not physically.

I'm getting mind-fucked!!!

Yeah! Thank you Uncle Sam!

Re: USA NOT A FREE COUNTRY! CHARLES DARWIN EXPELLED!

Speaking as a Christian who believes in the Genesis account of creation, there is something rather bizarre about this whole controversy. For years now there have been Hollywood-produced fims that have directly attacked Christianity and have presented negative stereotypes that have ridiculed people who believe in the Bible. All of these movies have been picked up by distributors, but not this movie, which simply depicts the life of Charles Darwin. I don't get it. Although I strongly disagree with the theory of evolution, I don't view even a sympathetic movie about Darwin to be even a smidgen as offensive as movies of the type I've just alluded to. Since I believe in free speech, I think this movie ought to be allowed to be shown in this country, especially when you considere that all of these other truly offensive movies have been shown. I believe that the truth should prevail, even when it doesn't serve the purpose of demonizing someone. Even some critics of Darwin admit that he had a good side from a personal standpoint. I have no problem with people being allowed to see this movie. And while I firmly disagree with the theory of evolution, some fundamentalists need to show a little humility (for a change) and remember that our own history in this country with regard to racism has not exactly been squeaky clean either. A certain passage in Genesis 9 was deliberately misinterpreted and twisted by fundamentalists to defend racial segregation and discrimination against black Americans. As a U.S. Senator, Pat Robertson's father Willis Robertson was one of the leading segregationist politicians in the country, yet Pat Robertson never denounced his father's racism. Until very recently Bob Jones University served as a segregationist academy, and the Baptist preachers W. A. Criswell and Jerry Falwell were rabid segregationistis until the political situation in this country had changed so much that they had to change their image in order to be more politically viable. Their support for racism was just as wrong then as it would be now. I hope I don't sound wishwashy. I'm not saying that Darwinism has nothing to answer for, historically speaking. I'm just trying to be honest. By society's standards I would be considered a fundamentalist; and I guess that I am, although I have strong doctrinal differences with most people who call themselves fundamentalists. I would not be interested in seeing the Darwin movie, but I think Fat Man or anyone else in this country who does want to see it should be allowed to see it.

Fat Man, this fifth-grade teacher of yours who abused you while claiming to be a Christian was a vicious hypocrite. He no doubt would have bullied me too for being a slightly built boy who had no interest in sports. People like that make me sick. Anyone who is even slightly familiar with the moral teachings of the New Testament realizes that it condemns bullying and does not hold up sports as some false standard of masculinity. The allusions that the apostle Paul makes to athletic events do not endorse sports as a requirement in the lives of men and boys. He simply uses sports as a metaphor to illustrate how dedicated a Christian must be in his daily life. Nothing more than that. It doesn't mean that he's anti-sports either. A single hypocrite does more to cause a lack of faith than does a dozen outspoken atheists.

Thank you Earl for your response and your honest assessment. As usual, it is very well written.

I hope to get some more responses to my latest topic.

The movie is not about evolution by itself, but rather, about Charles Darwin, about his life, and about his family life.

Charles Darwin had a loving wife, a devout Christian, and she supported him in his endeavor to get his book, The origin Of The Species published.

He also had a daughter who died a tragic death at the age of 10, and it was most devastating to him.

Charles Darwin was a kind and gentle man, a good and decent family man.

I just resent some of the terrible things that have been said about him, things are are untrue.

Sad, and idiots tend to say religion has no effect on life? It does, I hate religion (Deism is fine with me, but I respect others views) because its effects on advancement. There have been LUDICROUS amounts of deaths thanks to Christian Science; the belief that PRAYING is going to help you, no medical care. Also the parents who preach to their children about God even if some don't believe in him. Christianity sickens me! No offense Earl, you're fine.

Well, I do believe there's a God and all that, but I am also an evolutionist.

As I had mentioned before, I'm converting to Judaism. My Rabbi is really cool!!! He supports science and he is against any attempts to introduce creationism into science classes.

But, this is where the state of Texas is really fucking up! The Texas board of education really screwed the pooch!!!

Anyway . . . . .

Back in February of this year during our Torah Study, we even honored the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin.

This has been an interesting year, because back in August, it was the 400th anniversary of Galileo's telescope.

Once again, thank you for your response.

Thanks for being considerate of me, Sergey. This may surprise you. Many people who believe in the Bible consider Christian Science to be a false church, and there are believers today who do not believe that divine miraculous healing is taking place today or has ever taken place since New Testament times. I, too, have been enraged at phony faith healers who have urged naive people to throw away their much-needed medication because they had been led to believe that God had miraculously healed them, people who ended up dying needlessly.

I can't believe this! Surely this is a form of censorship! Can't you petition this to be shown? As an agnostic that believes in evolution, I believe that it should be assesable to anyone. Its not like they are forcing anyone at gunpoint to watch it, so whats the problem?

This is not a matter of censorship being imposed by any governmental entity at the national, state, or local level in this country. It is self-censorship by the distributors, none of whom are willing to pick up this movie. What's truly bizarre about this, Lewis, is that these same people have had no problem with movies that ridicule people who believe in the Bible or movies that are truly blasphemous. This movie is simply about Charles Darwin's life; and even though I don't believe in the theory of evolution, I agree that it should be shown in this country.

What really gets me, is that in this country we are willing to allow a book written by a pedophile, who has sex with children, to be published.

You all remember the topic I posted titled BOYCOTT AMAZON!!!
http://www.sportssuck.org/phpbb2/viewto ... f=7&t=1048

And I had mentioned that I'm a member of another forum called ABSOLUTE ZERO which is made up of people like myself who had been victims of sexual assaults, and those who had been victims of pedophiles.

I also said that while I believe in freedom of speech and that I'm against censorship, I also said that I draw the line when it comes to kiddy porn or anything written by pedophiles.

That's because, while kiddy porn is considered to be freedom of speech by the pedophiles, it is not freedom for innocent children who are being exploited. To produce kiddy porn, coercive persuasion is used on children, and these children are entrapped and enslaved, so kiddy porn is actually a form of slavery.

Therefore, if one enjoys doing something that involves enslaving another person, then is is not covered by freedom of speech.

But what really gets me, is that we won't be allowed to see a movie about the life of Charles Darwin, yet, some low-life scum-bag piece of human garbage by the name of Viamund the Rake - AKA - Octaevius Altair can have a book published, Poetry & Haiku's, which is a story of an 11 year old boy prostitute/vampire and a man posing as father and son while traveling and slaying. The master of course is Viamund himself.

What is a rake?

A man who is unrestrained by convention or morality
A man leading a dissolute life
A man lacking restraint
A man with lowered moral character or standards
A man characterized by self-indulgence
A man who acts with deliberate disregard for the rights of other people

Now, is that sick? Or what???

A piece of bullshit like that can be published in the USA, but a movie about Charles Darwin is NOT going to be shown here in the USA.

When I was a kid in school, I was beaten and bullied around, and I was not allowed to read Astronomy books.

Eventually, at the age of 17, I suffered an emotional and mental breakdown and spent three weeks in a mental hospital where I was beaten some more, and then, one night I was raped by a much older man.

Now, I won't get to see a movie about Charles Darwin because I live in the good ol' USA .

But Viamund the Rake can get his piece of trash published.

As a kid, I was not allowed to read Astronomy book, and now, as an adult, I won't get to see this latest movie about Charles Darwin.

I feel like I'm being raped again, not physically raped, but mine-raped, or mine-fucked!
