I'm going to preface: I hate NASCAR. However, I have loved cars for many years, namely working on and driving (and track racing) my own car. I like autosports for that reason: I respect the engineering that goes into those machines and, well, I like to go fast. That said, NASCAR is boring as hell. Go fast, turn left, is a snoozefest. Why NASCAR is so popular but track racing (Rolex Cup, for example) and Formula 1 can't seem to stay on TV is beyond me.blackdog4444 wrote:Well to crudely cap off this argument, I shall state once again...
It's ok for children to be entertained by cars going around, and around, and around on a track for hours, but if it's an adult that's entertained then it's just scary.
Nice picture you've got there, sf2k4. It's interesting to see a sports fan that respects the technical aspect of racing sports. Most of the fans, I believe, are just wanting to see pile-ups, major crashes and people risking their lives by going at moronic speeds. I think the reason why NASCAR is so popular is because modern people enjoy watching others put their lives on the line to entertain them. This is how far some people will go to please the fans and get those seats filled. Yet I don't think the fans truly appreciate the dangers some of the drivers are putting themselves in to entertain them.sf2k4 wrote:I'm going to preface: I hate NASCAR. um sports can be mentally challenging. When I played tennis I had to think a great deal about strategy, where weak points were, how to hit the ball.blast flame wrote:If it were mentally challenging it shouldn't be call sport. Sport is the opposet of mentally challenging.yallsuckballs wrote:Oh yea, Did you forget to mention Nascar drivers are in amazing shape. I would bet 1 million dollers you could not last a whole Nascar race. You have to been in amazing shape to withstand the heat of racing. Plus its mentally challenging you idiots dont recognize that.
