I just watched Inception (Possible Spoilers)
And I was just curious as to what ways you have died in your dreams? For myself, I can recall falling downstairs, and being run over by a tractor, but my dreams aren't vivid enough to remember them that well. I'm sure there are other moments that I am forgetting. What about you?

Re: I just watched Inception (Possible Spoilers)
For me? Well, my dreams have always just seemed to end, really. No death involved as such. But I can remember on several occasions how I have had dreams revolving around doing something I really want to do or going somewhere great, about to undertake something significant, and as soon as that thing is about to happen, they just end. I can't remember dreams from my childhood that well, but I can remember a few which have started and ended by me drifting off into the sky from wherever I was previously. Funny things they are, dreams. They can be so believable... and unbelievable. They can take your hopes up sky-high and then smash them to the ground again when you wake up. And most of the time in a dream it can feel so real or vivid yet when you wake up, you hardly remember a thing. And to think this is all coming from YOUR mind.
I would like to see this film Inception. I hear it's one of the most complicated films of recent times but it's good to hear that we are still getting films that require the rubbing together of a few brain cells to comprehend.
Best regards,

Re: I just watched Inception (Possible Spoilers)
I believe I mentioned Inception in the thread about what you last watched, and said that it was the greatest movie I have ever seen in my life. I still think it's the greatest movie I've seen in my life. To be honest, I didn't think it was too complicated (well, compared to the average film it was, but the average films don't require much brain activity), but I can see why people think it is.
I've noticed that whenever I die in a dream, I wake up that moment too. I can't remember many. I believe I've dreamed that I jumped off the CN Tower, and right when I would have hit the ground, I woke up only to be confused as I was still alive and not a pile of jumbled up bones and flesh on the ground. I also recall a dream from when I was a little kid (I believe I was
and I was going to visit my Mom at work (even though in that dream, the building looked nothing like the one she worked in), when I noticed someone that looked like my Mom from a distance, and thinking it was my Mom, I waited outside of the building, only to realize when she was a few metres away that she was not my Mom and she chased my into the building. Then I believe it went blank (or maybe I just forgot something) and the next thing I knew I was tied to a beam over a campfire being slowly lowered down, and I screamed in my dream until the moment when I would have died when I woke up. I can't remember many other deaths in my dreams.

I didn't think Inception was that sophisticated of a movie, although it had an interesting concept.

Well, I have heard rumours around here saying that it does have a pretty complicated plot, but of course, urban areas here in the UK do have their fair share of dimwits. I'll make sure to check this film out - I hope it's still in cinemas over here. Seeing as how you're living far nearer America where it was made, you probably got it first.HugeFanOfBadReligion wrote:I believe I mentioned Inception in the thread about what you last watched, and said that it was the greatest movie I have ever seen in my life. I can see why this would be so. It would be interesting to hear about a dream where someone has killed themselves multiple times, or rather, done things that would have resulted in death in real life, but still continued to live in a dream world.HugeFanOfBadReligion wrote:I've noticed that whenever I die in a dream, I wake up that moment too.
I've also heard about these "dreams within a dream" as I like to call them, where the dreamer wakes up, believes they have really awoken and then discovers that they are still in a dream. By that point it becomes something called "lucid dreaming" where you realise you're dreaming and therefore have a far stronger ability to influence what goes on in your dream. A whole world that you can bend to your will. Must be fun - but make the most of it while you know you're in a dream, cause it won't last!

Yes, it would be interesting to experience lucid dreaming. I don't believe I've done so myself, it'd definitely be an interesting experience. Although I'd expect that I'd wake up immediately the moment I realized I was dreaming, but perhaps not. Lucid dreaming would be amazing, I'm not sure how it'd work, but you could probably influence what happens in the dream that wouldn't be in your control if it were real life, and you could pretty much do whatever you want because you're dreaming and there can't be any real consequences.

Re: I just watched Inception (Possible Spoilers)
I've experienced lucid dreaming a couple of times, that was when I was young though, so all I did was "fly." However, I have been suffering from sleep paralysis a bit lately. Not just one or two nights, but maybe a couple of complete weeks this summer. It sucks, a lot.
