Just getting back to the Andygate scandal...
Well, going back to the 4chan raid of this time last year, actually. I've always wondered how that first started. I suppose there was originally only one single person that stumbled upon this website, and then they would have reported back to their buddies at 4chan with something like - "Hey, I found a website full of sports hating fags! Let's get 'em!..."
I suppose it would have been something like that.
I never thought we would ever know who that one person might be though, but now I'm starting to wonder if it might have been Andy.
I mean, let's look at the sequence of events here. After being on the guestbook here for only a few days, he tried to organise an attack against us from his Tech N9ne website, and then he joined the forum here, and stormed off in a huff after only a few more days, and then about a month after he stormed off in a huff from here, we got raided by 4chan.
Coincidence?
Maybe he was the one that told 4chan about us?
There are 3 bits of circumstantial evidence to support that -
(1): Timing:- It fits.
(2): Motive:- He was pissed off at us.
(3): Form:- He tried something similar once before.
We now know that he has called an attack on us at least once before already... So why not twice?

I wouldn't say that. It's just nobody has done anything extreme enough to warrant a permanent ban. Yes, Sergey trolled people, but only sports bores. I don't recall him trolling anyone on here. Fat Man does go off on rants and makes topics where he's probably said some other OTT stuff -- I wouldn't know, his topics are usually too long/contain a subject that doesn't interest me, and I don't have the time or inclination to read it all -- but this time, it went too far.recovering_fan wrote:Oh don't worry, I think it's close to impossible for a sports-hater to get permanently banned from this site.ChrisOH wrote:Well, hopefully I won't get banned for this...

It's an interesting theory you have there, Agent 47, but I strongly doubt that Andy was the one who was behind the 4chan raid on this forum. Firstly, I don't know why he'd have waited a whole month after leaving this website before thinking "I know, I'll stir up shit against them on the 4chan /sp/ board!" If the 4channers had hit a day or two after he left this website, then I'd have suspected he had something to do with it, but I doubt it in this case. Furthermore, I do genuinely think he is a nice guy in real life who probably wouldn't have anything to do with major trolling centres like 4chan. Yes, this conduct from him was two-faced and I felt it was necessary to bring it up on this forum, but I'm sure he was just reacting out of anger due to the injustice he faced on here. That doesn't mean I'm any less disappointed to see all the stuff on that Tech N9ne forum coming from a person who firmly asserted on several occasions that he was a nice guy who was above all this sort of behaviour and rhetoric. I doubt Andy was behind the 4chan raid.

Well, here are the links to the medical associations I mentioned in my previous post (keep in mind that these are not the only medical associations that have called for the ban of sports, as there were not any URL's for some of the medical associations):

The American Medical Association has also called for the ban of boxing, and Norway and Iceland have already banned professional boxing.

Re: Two threads you may be interested in seeing.
Good evening everybody.
Well, I'm back now after my temporary 24 hour ban.
First of all, I want to apologize to Skul and Earl, and to everybody else here.
I have difficulty controlling my emotions sometimes, but I have always been very passionate and I have some really strong feelings, especially when it comes to education verses sports, and when it comes to politics and religion, and intellectual and academic freedom, science verses Creationism, etc. etc. I feel very strongly on these topics, especially when it comes to bullying, brutality, and rape.
These are hot-button issues with me, and sometime I like to rant and rave a lot, and sometime I'll say something that's really off the wall.
Yeah! Open mouth, and insert foot. That's me. I guess sometimes I could use a yock strap!
OK, in response to I_like_1981.
Of course, I could be wrong, and maybe Andy didn't have anything to do with it, but since it was only a month later after Andy went off "in an 8 cylinder huff" as I had put it back then, it's still a possibility.
Now if the 4chan raids had come several months later, then I would say, No, Andy probably didn't have anything to do with, but since it was within a month, then I say it's a possibility.
I mean, like, really! I never knew of the existence of 4chan, never heard of 4chan in my life until we were raided by them. So, it's possible that Andy didn't know about 4chan until he stumbled upon them about a month later.
I'm sure that probably none of us here knew of the existence of 4chan, or ever heard of them until the day we got raided by them.
But again, we have no proof, because if he did post at 4chan and told them about our anti-sports forum and had them raid us, most likely, he posted there anonymously, because most of the posts over at 4chan are anonymous, so again, we don't have proof, because Andy most likely posted anonymously. He wouldn't have posted under his user name Andy because then, it would have been much too obvious. He's not that stupid.
So, he posted instead, on his own web site back in January of 2010 about a month before the 4chan raids and it took I_like_1981 just over a year to accidentally find it at:
http://www.therealtechn9ne.com/forum/topics/ban-sports
Of course, I'm only speculating, so I could be wrong.
If the 4chan raids had come only a couple of days later, then it would have been an even greater possibility than it would be after about a month.
Well, anyway . . . . .
If you all remember, about a few months later after the 4chan raid, sometime in May of 2010, I came across some more information about the Chan forums.
I subscribe to the ATS Newsletter, Above Top Secret, and well . . . it's mostly a lot of conspiracy theories, and stuff about UFOs, and whatever, but they had posted something rather interesting about the Chans, about 4 CHAN, 7CHAN, 12CHAN.
So, I had posted a topic the was titled . . .
THE CHANS, 4 CHAN, 7CHAN, 12CHAN AND THE PEDOPHILES!!!
http://www.sportssuck.org/phpbb2/viewto ... f=7&t=4576
I had posted that Thu May 13, 2010 7:15 am.
And the article also mentioned Encyclopedia Dramatica which also has a rather bad reputation.
Some of you may recall, how I had mentioned discovering that my residential address and phone number was published on a page dedicated to me, Fat Man, and how I had received a number of harassing phone calls because of it.
After that, I had browsed a number of web pages at Encyclopedia Dramatica and found some web pages containing racism, some anti-Jewish web pages, and web pages making a joke out of rape and pedophilia.
So, I would say, that with the Chans, especially 4chan, there is much more than meets the eye. Especially since there is known to be a connection between the Chans and pedophilia.

I'm not going to quote the entire article, just part of it. To read the rest, just go to the link to the topic I had posted back in May of 2010.

Once again, please do accept my apology.
In the meantime, it's almost time for my favorite radio talk show, so I'm going to listen to Phil Hendrie.

So, I won't have anything to do with anybody who hangs around the Chans. The Ultimate Evil
A Child Abuse Awareness Blog
Iâ??ve been receiving quite a few hits from people searching for child porn on chan, so this is my little expose dedication to them.
Many people have no clue what chan sites are. Well, â??chanâ? by definition is nothing more than internet speak. However, there are certain sites that use the term in their names and are preceded by numbers such as 4, 7, and 12. i.e. 4chan, 7chan, and 12chan.
The short of it is, these sites are made up primarily of a bunch of horny losers seeking their release with children and young teens, and of kids who have no life offline and are easily manipulable by online predators. Predators (who are sometimes even teens, themselves) have groomed these kids into believing itâ??s all just a big joke. Theyâ??re not serious. This lie keeps these children there posting intimate thoughts and details about their lives.
Unsuspecting teens post images of their young siblings doing various things â?? at games, playing in the yard, naked in the tub, swimming. They speak of their birthdays, parentsâ?? names, locations, what they like and donâ??t like in lifeâ?¦ Everything a sexual predator is looking for to hunt down their target in real life. Predators give children on these sites what they arenâ??t receiving at home: compassion, understanding, support, a friendly ear without ridicule or punishment. I will repeat for as long as I need to: If you donâ??t talk to your child, someone else will!

Re: Two threads you may be interested in seeing.
Your apology is accepted, Fat Man. The point is not whether you dislike Andy. I've already explained why I was offended; so, I don't need to repeat myself and bore the reader silly. As the exchange between Agent 47 and i_like_1981 has shown, the truth is more likely to be discerned when civility prevails, not when everyone is shouting.
I just want to make two observations.
Observation No. 1: When this forum was raided by the 4chan trolls, I asked my younger daughter Earlette No. 2 if she had ever heard of 4chan. Responding in her usual perkiness , she said, "Well, yeah. Everybody's heard of 4chan." Before he was banned, our former member Nick once said the same thing. I remember how surprised he was that we -- the middle-aged members of this forum (which category includes me, of course) -- had never heard of 4chan. Of course, the reason for that is because we are not as Internet savvy as teenagers are. Neither I nor Earlette No. 2's mother (Mrs. Earl) had ever heard of 4chan. So, although my assumption is anecdotal, I think it's extremely likely that Andy (who, incidentally, is the same age as my daughter Earlette No. 2, also a university sophomore) knew about 4chan before he discovered our website.
And now Observation No. 2 ...
Ask yourself the following question: Who wrote the following sentences that Earl has copied and pasted below?
Doesn't this read like something Fat Man would have written? Surely, he must have been the one who wrote these sentences. Well, you're wrong. I've just copied and pasted excerpts from the Encyclopedia Dramatica article that is entitled "Jocks." There's also a similar piece on bodybuilders, which I read just yesterday. And I'm sure their article on nerds is as equally devastating in terms of its putdowns. The point is that ED ridicules everybody and they try to offend everyone. They are equal opportunity offenders, which means that they are not part of some imagined jock conspiracy. In other words, we need to be careful about making judgments based on anything said at http://encyclopediadramatica.com.

A jock is a form of asshole/retard who has a muscular body but is not necessarily a bodybuilder, and is obsessed with sports. They most likely were the object of your ire in high school, since they no doubt kicked the crap out of You. Despite their hidden faggotry, they act ultra masculine and hate faggots, while in fact they wish they could come out.
<snip>
Jocks usually take steroids so that their penises become small, and eventually fall off. Being a jock does not require taking steroids, but they are commonly used. Organized sports is where you find most jocks, either that or low paying construction jobs, which are the only jobs most jocks can land.

Re: Two threads you may be interested in seeing.
Well, I guess the reason why I never heard of 4chan, until after we got raided almost a year ago, is because when I'm cruising the Internet, and doing Google searches, I'm cruising the high ground, looking for educational topics on Science, like Astronomy or Evolution and educational videos, or I'm looking for some educational videos or good music videos from youTube, and of course, posting political topics or articles from various Newsletters to which I subscribe.Earl wrote:When this forum was raided by the 4chan trolls, I asked my younger daughter Earlette No. 2 if she had ever heard of 4chan. So, that's probably why I never heard of 4chan.
Now, take for example, the term "zoo-tramp" that I often use in reference to those idiots from 4chan. Most people don't know what a zoo-tramp is. Well, anybody who has read The National Lampoon magazine back in the 1970s would know what a zoo-tramp is. It's just a stupid made up character, like someone wondering aimlessly in a city zoo, shouting random obscenities at anyone who passes by.
Anyway . . .
I usually avoid the Internet ghettos and slums, so in my travels through cyber-space I probably would never encounter anything like 4chan.
That's because I don't go slumming.
And then, when a bunch of morons jump up from their sewers, I'm taken by surprise, so I was emotionally unprepared for the raid from 4chan.
So, we need to be on our guard.

Re: Two threads you may be interested in seeing.
I had not heard of 4chan before I first came to this site and read of the discussion of the recent 4chan attack. I may have heard the term '4chan' a few times before that, but I had no clue what it was and I think I thought it was a short term for a news network (I'm not sure if a news network called "Channel 4" exists, but that's what I thought '4chan' was short for). But not long after I came to this site, I heard people mention 4chan a few times, and many people definitely knew what it was.
I don't think Andy was behind the 4chan raids. I think what we saw on that forum that Andy posted on was based on the anger he probably had when he first saw the site, but he let go of his anger not much later, so I don't think I'm going to let his post on that forum reflect his personality. And even if he did find 4chan a month after he posted here, I doubt he would have immediately thought about some irrelevant webpage that he posted at a while ago, I'm sure he largely forgot about us by then.

Re: Two threads you may be interested in seeing.
Hey! It's good to see you out on parole, Fat Man!
And Earl - this civility you speak of sounds like a fascinating concept.
Now, more Andygate...
Could Andy really have called the 4chan attack against us?
Well, as Dr. Phil would say - "The best predictor of future behavior, is past behavior."
Andy had already called one attack upon us. He had past form. He had already crossed that threshold of behavior. So doing it a second time would seem more natural to him.
And I don't see a month being between when Andy was here and the 4chan raid, as necessarily precluding him from being the instigator of it, either.
Perhaps he was just busy with other things in life for a while after he left here, before he couldn't stand us any longer.
And I shouldn't imagine that you'd just go onto 4chan, and request a raid, and they'd have a "one-hour-while-you-wait-raid-service." I presume there would be some lead time for that.
So a month doesn't seem unreasonable, I don't think.
Or instead of it being Andy, perhaps there was an actual 4channer that wandered into the Tech N9ne website one day and saw the link, and took it from there.
So even though it may not have actually been Andy himself, he may have inadvertently triggered the 4chan raid by posting that link there.
That was a pretty irresponsible thing to do.
Especially for someone claiming the moral high ground.
A hateful link towards us being posted publicly on the internet, and then a coordinated raid on us just one month later, does seem like a hell of a coincidence.
But could Andy himself really have called the 4chan attack against us?
Well there's no evidence either way, but given that there is now evidence that he had already double crossed us, I think it would be naive to rule out at least the possibility that he did.
For me, this whole Andygate scandal clearly vindicates a policy of not trusting any sports bores that come on here, no matter how angelic a facade they try to present to us.
Thanks again for the scoop, 1981. Absolute gold.
Here's a little joke that, for me, summarises this whole situation quite nicely -
Q: Why is it always best to just automatically assume that anything a sports bore says is bullshit?
A: Because it saves time.

Welcome back to the forum, Fat Man. It's good to see you around again.

Over here in Britain we have a popular television channel called... wait for it... Channel 4! Yes, an original title indeed. It has been broadcasting since 1982.HugeFanOfBadReligion wrote:I'm not sure if a news network called "Channel 4" exists...
Neither had I. But I'm not surprised that their /sp/ section eventually found out about our website and launched a pretty hard raid on it. We must have been the ideal prey they were looking for, eh? It was probably always going to happen in the end... but we'd never have known when. That raid was what convinced me to remain a long-term member of this site - with opponents like that manipulating the small size and solitude of our forum, we need all the supporters we can get.HugeFanOfBadReligion wrote:I had not heard of 4chan before I first came to this site and read of the discussion of the recent 4chan attack.

Fuck yes. I love seeing competitiveness like this. Someday when we're able to amass a superb following, we'll strike /sp/ with an immense force. Then we'll continue having raids/battles/DDoS attacks/whatever for years to come. It'll be one of the great rivalries of the internet. That raid was what convinced me to remain a long-term member of this site - with opponents like that manipulating the small size and solitude of our forum, we need all the supporters we can get.

Re: Two threads you may be interested in seeing.
Admittedly, better said than done. I confess that I've lost my temper at least four times online, which is not the way I usually react in real life; and I've ranted at certain other websites. Ever since I started posting at a website for the first time (namely, this one in the spring of 2009), my online personality has been evolving. If you think I'm mild-mannered now, you should check out my posts (as wmwcjr) in the old "Welcome Sports Haters" thread at able2know.org. Then again, perhaps you shouldn't. (Nah, if you've got time to kill, go ahead and read it.) My combative debut did not allow me to initiate a discussion with one of their sports bores (username kuvasz). If I had kept my cool, I possibly could have changed his mind about mandatory sports-based P.E. or at least have shown the fallacy of his position. But I lost that opportunity because I was mad (understandably).Agent 47 wrote:And Earl - this civility you speak of sounds like a fascinating concept.
The new generation is quite aggressive. I hate to quench your fighting spirit, Safety; but I fear (for several reasons) that your Gotterdammerung will never occur. I doubt that we will ever have an immense force because most of the visitors to this website who appreciate it only leave a message or two among the "Letters," in the "Guestbook," or in the forum. I'm grateful for the messages of support, but none of these people become longtime members of the forum (which is not intended to be a complaint against them). There is another observation that is relevant to my view. Few of the people on the other side are willing to harass or otherwise engage us in the forum. They seem to be content to stay in their own habitat. For example, when our beloved nemesis Samdaman finally was banned for good, he went to the Sporting News website to whine about how terrible we were. (Of course, he didn't mention how hateful and abusive he had been. ) He urged the other members to harass us and say that Samdaman had sent them. Although they sympathized with him, no one ever visited this website and said that Samdaman had sent him. As far as I know, none of the intolerant A2K sports fans have come over to this website to harass us. And when Andy posted his brief "Flame On!!" message on that Tech N9ne webpage, the reaction there was quite sparse. From time to time we get a sports fan who either is hostile to or criticizes this website, but he never says that he's been sent by anyone.Safety wrote:Fuck yes. Regardless of how they heard of our website, I doubt that the 4chan trolls were part of a vast sports conspiracy. Considering that 4chan has been associated with nerds from its very beginning, I doubt that there were many jocks among the 4chan trolls who raided this forum. They're just trolls or (at their worst) cyberbullies who surf the web looking for small websites or websites they just don't like for whatever reason and for individual persons whom they perceive to be vulnerable to ridicule.
I personally am not up to trolling and ranting at this point in my life. I'm having to deal with real problems in real life with the very real hope of achieving self-improvement of the sort I've needed for many years. Again, sorry to dampen your fighting spirit. But you never know ...
Incidentally, Safety, my personal trainer tells me that bodybuilding.com is an excellent site to find helpful information.

Re: Two threads you may be interested in seeing.
Why are you so eager to attack your own friends? Just joking. But seriously, I'd personally wouldn't start any crap on /sp/ unless everyone else here on the forum said how bored they were of not having any obnoxious opponents to argue with and wanted someone to go over there to start some trouble. Then I'd be glad to. The problem is, when they raided us last year, they would overload the website server so that the forum wouldn't load up properly. Now, where's the fun in having a fight if the place is too packed to allow a single actual punch to be thrown? That's how I look at it. Besides, they're not exactly formidable opponents in terms of intelligence. It's just the usual shit: "HAHAHA SPORTS HATIN FAGS U ALL SUCK!" And what's all this "we" about, Safety? I thought you were a sports fan yourself, so why are you condoning an attack on fellow sports fans? Just curious. But it's nice to see your optimism for a scrap.Safety wrote:Fuck yes.
