Where do most of you get your avatars?
I have noticed a few photographs, as well as some cartoon-like images. Are the avatar images ones who took (if photos) or created yourselves, or did you find them online?
The avatar I currently have is meant to resemble my cat -- I found it online after going through numerous "free" avatar pages -- however, most of them wanted you to buy the images listed, or there were various copyright restrictions listed. This one was one of the few that didn't appear to have any such restrictions attached.
To answer the obvious question, my digital camera is on the fritz and I haven't had the money to replace it recently, so I can't just snap a photo of my own cat at the moment (I do have a cell phone camera, but those pics tend to come out rather blurred when uploaded to the computer.) I just got bored with not having an avatar, but didn't feel quite comfortable putting an actual picture of myself up, so I played around with it a little a few nights ago.

Re: Avatars?
The photo in my avatar was taken of me back in April of 2007. I was standing in the lobby of Chase Bank in the down town area of El Paso Texas.
You notice I have a gray border on both sides. I had to add that because when I tried to upload my image for the avatar it got distorted.
I can use my Photo Base 3 application to take large photos and reduce them down to avatar size. But the photo of me was rectangular, taller than wide, so I had to add the gray border on the sides to make it more square.
Anyway . . .
I weighed about 370 pounds back when that photo was taken.
Of course, I now weigh about 400 pounds, and lovin' every pound of it. I actually like being a Fat Man! To me, being 400 pounds is kind of cool. Being fat is cool. It rules! Being fat kicks ass!
Also, my heath is good even though I'm fat, although I do have some arthritis in my knees and ankles, and that's why I was walking with a cane in that photo.

All I want to hear from an ex-jock is "Will that be paper or plastic?" After that he can shut the fuck up!

Re: Avatars?
I made my avatar myself on Paint. As you can see, it doesn't leave an awful lot to the imagination. Whenever I sign up to another forum with the same username I make sure to use this avatar. Kind of a calling card should anyone from another website visit another site I'm posting on. But then again, since when I have I been that popular to attract a following?
Well, simple as it may be, I kind of like it. I wasn't really going for artistic brilliance anyway.

I found my picture somewhere on the internet that I would prefer not to say or else I might risk stirring some controversy.
Use the transparency tool to make the grey areas transparent and they'll blend in with whatever background they're posted against, like this cat.I can use my Photo Base 3 application to take large photos and reduce them down to avatar size. My avatar is the artwork of an album by the Guess Who. I just copied a picture of the album I found on Google Images after searching for it, pasted it into Paint, and resized the image to make it suitable for this site, then I uploaded it onto an image hosting site.
Regardless of whether or not you actually specifically state what that site is, I think we can safely assume it is 4chan.Safety wrote:I found my picture somewhere on the internet that I would prefer not to say or else I might risk stirring some controversy.

I can safely assure you that it was not 4chan.

Me? I downloaded a few Sonic Next Gen/2006 wallpapers (as if you couldn't tell what franchise they were from), resized them and uploaded them to a site that randomly rotates through them. The URL is http://signavatar.com/
This is actually the third image rotater I've had to use, as the other two shut down. -_- Third time's a charm, hopefully...

Re: Avatars?
I'm currently using a picture from the Sportssuck.org stock. I've been thinking of changing it, but I worry that if I change it to something other than a bear, then some of my old posts won't make sense. Maybe I'll just some cool pictures to my signature instead.
