Church and Sports/Sports and Religion
Church and Sports/Sports and Religion
It's been awhile and I've been doing well ignoring sports but something happened. Although Religion and is very broad and complex topic, I'll just be talking about something that happens during my Sunday Mass. Our priest out at our church is very nice, and likeable person but there's only one problem he's a hardcore sports fan. Yesterday as part of his sermon he started to use sports to him us relate the reading that day. Now, usually his sports talks are short but yesterday it was especially long and I couldn't take it. I had to control myself from just getting up of my seat and leaving altogether. The one place I had EXPECTED to find some refudge from sports, its too no longer safe. Good thing though, the chances have hearing about sports on church is at most 50 percent, because my church as two Priests that alternative each week. I'm tired of sports, they will never truly contribute to future. That's it cya all.

Suffered under Darth Sidius, electrocuted, survived and partied with Ewoks. He descended to the Death Star, on the third hour he flew out in an Imperial ship and landed on Endor. He is seated on the right hand of Obi-Wan's ghost. He will come again to train Leia to be a Jedi. We believe? in Yoda.........

Re: Church and Religion
wow... I'm not religious or anything, but I wouldn't think that would be allowed... I thought church was just for religon and stuff... sports is a bit off topic it seems... Maybe you could talk to him about it? I don't know if he would listen or not... I'm not really sure what else you could do but find a new safe place away from sports

Sports contribute nothing to society. They are a waste of time, money, effort and TV channels! It's just a bunch of buffed up, fat headed, idiotic jocks chasing a ball around.
If cheerleading were any easier... It would be called football!

Re: Church and Religion
Thanks for the suggestion. Lol I actually intended the title to be "Church and Sports" or "Sports and Religion" but it was the morning so my mind was still blurry. The other priest at my church is the older and much more experienced priest, he sometimes to talks about sports but as jokes always. Especially when there is a big sports event, but I can tell he's not a sportsaholic. The younger one could learn of the elder's example.

Re: Church and Sports/Sports and Religion
I edited the title for you. I wasn't sure which one you would prefer, so I put both up.
But I agree, sports shouldn't be discussed in a place that has nothing to do with it. I guess this place is the only place where you can escape the craziness of the sports-obsession that's taken everyone over like some kind of virus. We just need to find a cure.
We're getting there. Some time last year, we got word that a channel provider cut sports from their packages. I can't remember which one, but at least those lucky people don't have to be forced to take sBOREts (:P) along with the normal programs.
