Exactly. Why would a governer want to build a stadium if they're so detrimental? Obviously there's something you guys aren't seeing.

Only 70% of the population watched the superbowl (despite the continuous press coverage) and half of them, 54%, tuned in just for the commercials. It was just the hype that interested them -not the game. There IS hope for the human race. But we have to keep the pressure on the sports fans to save ourselves from certain destruction!

MY SOURCE:

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Super Bowl ads remain a big draw for viewers, with over 54 percent of U.S. adults who expect to watch Super Bowl XLIII planning to tune in as much or more for the commercials as for the game. According to the latest Hanon McKendry poll conducted by Harris Interactive(R), 72 percent of U.S. adults plan to watch Super Bowl XLIII, up from 68 percent in 2008, with 34 percent of those anticipated viewers watching equally for the ads as for the game and 21 percent tuning in exclusively or predominantly for the commercials.

Your guys arguments are compelling.

But the thing is, these stadiums get approved, and passed, by the public. They go in knowing taxes are going to raised, and the stadium still passes.

What's that mean? People love sports and the idea of a new stadium excites the majority of people, thus why it passes.

Not a whole lot you can do. We live in a democracy, and the majority of people like sports to some degree.

Good point. A lot of people like stadiums, and so they give funding to them. Regardless of whether they help the economy or not.

At this time though doing a little less stadium construction might be a good idea, given our economic situation.

"We believe in Vader, the Darth almighty, destroyer of Alderaan and the Sith. We believe in Luke, his only son, our Jedi. He was concieved by the power of the Force, and born of the senator Padme. Suffered under Darth Sidius, electrocuted, survived and partied with Ewoks. He descended to the Death Star, on the third hour he flew out in an Imperial ship and landed on Endor. He is seated on the right hand of Obi-Wan's ghost. He will come again to train Leia to be a Jedi. We believe? in Yoda.........:D

obviously the president is more important, but how much Obama talk can you take? We pretty much knew he was going to win for a long time.

Not everyone wants to hear about how he's going to try and fix America 24/7

Hell no! I would rather die at the hand of a ghost than decide to skank-out with everyone else and reduce myself to rubbish like they did! Now how exactly is lowering your position fun, I do not know, but apparently YOU KNOW WELL.
Oh joy, it's always that you gotta be like everyone else at this age : dumb, emotional, lazy, desperate, and conformist. I'd rather improve upon image and reputation by being: smart, blank, hard working, and non- to anticonformist. May that explain how I get As in a class while everyone else seems to be failing with Ds or Fs on average.
So you're pretty much saying that I should chose bad over good but you just switched the definitions around. Hence, my very aggressive reply was right and is staying true.
Now, did you get more brain matter or what?

haha, all your talk about "conformists" reminds me of a south park episode. But anyway... You're a non-conformist? Really? Do you live in a house, or some sort of enclosed structure? Do you eat food? Do you wear clothes? Do you attend school? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are a conformist!

For the record, LMC80 doesn't understand what to conform means.

Conform; to act in accordance or harmony; comply, to conform to rules.
2. to act in accord with the prevailing standards, attitudes, practices, etc., of society or a group

What the above means is to do something because everybody else is doing it (prevailing standard) or to comply with rules. None of the examples you gave, living in a house or enclosure, eating, wearing clothes, or attending school, are examples of conforming.

We live in houses or other types of enclosures because we need protection from the elements and a house if the most practical choice of shelter for most people.

We eat because if we don't, we die. We don't do it because it's fashionable or because our friends are doing it.

We wear clothes for warmth and protection although a particular choice of clothing style might be said to be conformist. But wearing clothes itself is not conformist.

Attending school is the law. We have no choice in attending and because conforming is a willful act (a choice) , by definition attending school can't be conformist.

I wonder where LMC80 goes to school. He should get his money back because he certainly isn't learning anything. If you want a good example of a conformist, look at a typical sports fan. baaaaaaaahhh!!! sheep!

lol You hit that right in the face, Ray! Yes, style is the main body of conformism, NOT ACTIONS OF SURVIVAL! DUUUUUUHHH! Things such as watching a specific show, wearing specific clothes, doing specific things such as dancing, singing, etc. are some of the parts that are controlled by conformists and general society. No one's going to let you run naked, but everyone wants you to wear that utterly skanky top every chick seems to be raving about, or with guys it would be getting that certain pair of shorts or new brand of skateboards that everyone else seems to like. I can just imagine how people would act if such "luxuries" were removed and all they had left were some materials to make clothing or old clothes that seem to get the worst of judgment. Now that'd make for a show, don't you think? Then there goes those awesome CDs and video games - now they must really be getting close to death now! [sarcasm intended]

It's all how the person a group of peoples' common actions. I find many actions of the people around here quite questionable and their sense of style very immoderate. Hell, there's girls in my school who wear tops that are cut so low, you can just see the "crack". Then, not surprisingly though, in the same day I saw a guy wearing a NASCAR shirt which had the beer brand name "Budweiser" boldly and vividly printed on the shirt, which is pretty much an alcoholic beverage advertisement. None of that stuff is allowed, but they do it as to get untrustworthy friends - which will most likely abandon them when a new trend pops up the next week. Unlike them, I prefer working on extra schoolwork or just enjoying my solitude and peace when I actually have time to do so. When I talk, I talk - but other than that, I don't feel like it. It seems that, to the teachers, I absolutely need to talk 24/7 or I'm gonna die. I keep telling them that I just like being left alone. Compared to the other students, I'm VERY mellow and calm, not crack-head hyper and jumpy, which seems to really irk them for some odd reason. I once asked a teacher why I couldn't be calm and relaxed. Well, the only answer I got was "...". Indeed, I have many other off-beat traits they seem to be unable to get over, which puts me in the non-conformist mark.
