Polite24 likes to criticize us older people but the music we listened to had a lot of meaning.

Here is some of my favorites from the 1960s and a You Tube link to each one so that anyone can here these songs, and the words ring so true.

Walk A Mile In My Shoes
Joe South and The Believers
Written by Joe South

If I could be you and you could be me for just one hour
If we could find a way to get inside each other's mind
If you could see you through my eyes instead of your ego
I believe you'd be surprised to see that you'd been blind

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Yeah, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

Well, your whole world you see around you is just a reflection
And the Law of Karma says you're gonna reap just what you sow
So unless you've lived a life of total perfection
Mm-mm, you'd better be careful of every stone that you should throw

Yet we spend the day throwin' stones at one another
'cause I don't think or wear my hair same way you do
Well, I may be common people but I'm your brother
And when you strike out and try to hurt me it's a 'hurtin you,

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Yeah, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

There are people on reservations and out in the ghettos
And brother, there, but for the grace of God, go you and I
If I only had the wings of little angels don'tcha you know I'd fly
To the top of the mountain and then I'd cry?

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Hey, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Better walk a mile in my shoes

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Oh, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes,

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Hey, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

And here is another oldie but a goodie.

The Games People Play
By Joe South

Oh the games people play now
Every night and every day now
Never meaning what they say now
Never saying what they mean

And they wile away the hours
In their ivory towers
Till they're covered up with flowers
In the back of a black limousine

Chorus
La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Talking 'bout you and me
And the games people play

Oh we make one another cry
Break a heart then we say goodbye
Cross our hearts and we hope to die
That the other was to blame

Neither one will give in
So we gaze at our eight by ten
Thinking 'bout the things that might have been
It's a dirty rotten shame

Chorus
La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Talking 'bout you and me
And the games people play

People walking up to you
Singing glory hallelujah
And they're tryin' to sock it to you
In the name of the Lord

They're gonna teach you how to meditate
Read your horoscope, cheat your faith
And further more to Hell with hate
Come on and get on board

Chorus
La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Talking 'bout you and me
And the games people play

Look around tell me what you see
What's happening to you and me
God grant me the serenity
To remember who I am

Cause you've given up your sanity
For your pride and your vanity
Turns you back on humanity
And you don't give a da da da da da

Chorus
La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Talking 'bout you and me
And the games people play

Here's another one that sounds more like country music.
Truer words were never sung.

Skip A Rope
By Henson Cargill

Skip a rope skip a rope
Oh listen to the children while they play
Now ain't it kinda funny what the children say
Skip a rope

Daddy hates mommy mommy hates dad
Last night you should've heard the fight they had
It gave little sister another bad dream
She woke us all up with a terrible scream

Skip a rope skip a rope
Oh listen to the children while they play
Now ain't it kinda funny what the children say
Skip a rope

Cheat on your taxes don't be a fool
Now what was that they said about the golden rule
Never mind the rule just play to win
And hate your neighbor for the shade of his skin

Skip a rope skip a rope
Oh listen to the children while they play
Now ain't it kinda funny what the children say
Skip a rope

Stub 'em in the back that's the name of the game
And mommy and daddy are who's to blame

Skip a rope skip a rope
Just listen to your children while they play
It's really not very funny what the children say
Skip a rope skip a rope
Skip a rope skip a rope

These songs are certainly much better than Rap!

I don't like the kind of Rap where they talk about drugs and gangs, and killing cops, and calling their women bitches and hos.

The only Rap I like is one titled "Baby's Got Back" about how this guy likes women with big butts. Now that one is kind of cute because I also like chubby women with big butts.

I guess there are only a couple of Rap songs that I like and that's it.

Otherwise . . . . .

RAP = CRAP!!!

Now here is a more recent rock song that I like very much.

Actually, it's more like an Opera, a modern Rock Opera.

Here is a You Tube link.

Bohemian Rhapsody
By Queen

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide, No escape from reality
Open your eyes, Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go, Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just killed a man, Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooh, Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time
Goodbye, ev'rybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooh, I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very fright'ning me
(Galileo.) Galileo. (Galileo.) Galileo, Galileo figaro
Magnifico. I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go
(Let me go.) Will not let you go
(Let me go.) Will not let you go. (Let me go.) Ah
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
(Oh mama mia, mama mia.) Mama mia, let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here

Nothing really matters, Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me

Any way the wind blows

And here is a You Tube link to a computerized version.

Well, I'm glad that you do like something else beside Rap!

No, I haven't heard Changes by Tupac, but I shall check it out in the You Tube videos. I'll probably like it.

OK!

I admit that there are some Rap songs that are pretty good.

Here is one of my favorites from You Tube.

Men in Black
By Will Smith

Here come the Men in Black
(Uh it's the M.I.B.'s)
(Uh here come the M.I.B.'s)
Here come the Men in Black (Men in Black)
They won't let you remember

Nah, nah, nah,
The good guys dress in black, remember that,
Just in case we ever face to face and make contact.
The title held by me... M.I.B.
Means what you think you saw, you did not see.
So don't blink,
Think what was there but now's gone.
Black suit with the black Ray Ban's on.
Walk in shadow, move in silence,
Guard against extra-terrestrial violence.
But yo we ain't on no government list.
We straight don't exist,
No names and no fingerprints.
Saw something strange,
Watch your back.
Cause you never quite know where the M.I.B.'s is at,
Uh and...

Here come the Men in Black. (Men in Black)
The galaxy defenders. (uh oh, uh oh)
Here come the Men in Black. (Men in Black)
They won't let you remember. (won't remember)
(uh uh, uh uh)

Now from the deepest of the darkest of night,
On the horizon, bright light in the site tight,
Cameras zoom, only impending doom.
But then like BOOM black suits fill the room up.
With the quickness talk with the witnesses,
Hypnotizer, neuralizer.
Vivid memories turn to fantasies.
Ain't no M.I.B.'s.
Can I please,
Do what we say that's the way we kick it.
Ya know what I mean,
I say my noisy cricket get wicked on ya.
We're your first, last and only line of defence,
Against the worst scum of the universe.
So don't fear us, cheer us.
If you ever get near us, don't jeer us.
We're the fearless.
M.I.B.'s freezin' up all the flack.
What's that stand for?
Men In Black.
Uh, M-m-m-...

The Men in Black.
(Uh uh uh)
The Men in Black.
(Uh uh uh, ah ah ah)

Let me see ya just bounce it with me.
Just bounce with me.
Just bounce it with me. C'mon,
Let me see ya just slide with me.
Just slide with me.
Just slide with me. C'mon.
Let me see ya take a walk with me.
Just walk with me.
Take a walk with me. C'mon,
And make your neck work.
Now freeze.

Here come the Men in Black. (Men in Black)
The galaxy defenders. (ooh ooh)
Here come the Men in Black. (Men in Black)
They won't let you remember. (uh no, no)

A-ight check it.
Let me tell you this in closin'.
I know we might seem imposin',
But trust me if we ever show in your section.
Believe me it's for your own protection.
Cuz we see things that you need not see,
And we be places that you need not be.
So go with your life,
Forget that Roswell crap.
Show love to the black suit.
Cuz that's the Men in,
That's the Men in...

Here come the Men in Black. (Here they come)
The galaxy defenders. (galaxy defenders)
Here come the Men in Black. (oh, here they come)
They won't let you remember. (won't let you remember)

Here come the Men in Black. (Oh, here they come)
The galaxy defenders. (uh oh, uh oh)
Here come the Men in Black.
They won't let you remember.

And of course, I do like Baby's Got Back.

But as I have said before, there are only a very few Rap song that I like. The rest is garbage!

"Changes"
By Tupak

[1]
Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a nigga he's a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

[Bridge w/ changing ad libs]
Come on come on
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww yeah
[Repeat]

[2]
I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is

[Bridge]

[Talking:]
We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

[3]
And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the facts givin' it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp smack you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool
my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped
& I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some punk that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

[Bridge 'til fade:]
Some things will never change

I got to admit, even though it's Rap, it's pretty good.

Yes, it talks about drugs and crime, but it also talks about how
we must make changes. It least it's not referring to women as
bitches and hos.

It's more like soft Rap.

I do wish people could stop infiltrating the boards and telling us to like things such as sport and rap. We're entitled to hate and like what we want - a lot of people are ignorant about rap, including myself, but let's be honest, it is a very easy genre to get bad thoughts about having seen what has happened in the lives of some of its artists and the serious crimes some of them have been involved with!

Yeah! I agree!

Most Rap is about violence!

There are only a couple of Rap songs I like and that's The Men In Black from the science fiction movie by the same title, and Baby's Got Back which is cute.

But other than that . . . . . . .

The Rest of Rap is nothing but CRAP!

Most RAP is actually RAPE!

Saying all this, there is one rap song I like and that is "Walk This Way" by Run-DMC and Aerosmith. Largely because it was released in 1986 - had it been released more recently, I probably wouldn't have liked it. 70s and 80s music is the best! My favourite bands are Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Queen. Some of their tunes are simply unforgettable.

WARNING! TESLA COILS ARE VERY DANGEROUS! TESLA COILS CAN KILL YOU!

If you're going to build a Tesla Coil, you better know what you're doing!

I wouldn't trust sports fans or monkey-boys with a flashlight!!!

I have in my own possession a 15,000 volt neon sign transformer, and a large spool of copper wire. I only need to get a three foot length of PVC pipe, and I still need to build a home made capacitor.

I also have instructions on a CD disk and the necessary software to make the precise calculations. With the materials I have, I can build a Tesla Coil with an output of a half million, that is, 500,000 volts which would be able to produce blue sparks at least three feet long.

I would never be able to run it in my little apartment. I would have to set it up outdoors, but it might scare the holy bee-jeebers out of the local residents in my apartment complex.

Anyway . . . . .
