In our schools, it's not only kids who are harmed emotionally and physically by bullies, but sometimes the bullying, or even just the fear of bullying can also lead to the tragic death of a parent.
Case in point . . .

Well, as for me, Yeah, I'm obese at 5 feet 6 inches and almost 400 pounds, but even if I weighed 800 pounds or more, I still would NEVER undergo any such risky surgical procedure. I'm scared to death of it!Gastric Band Tragedy Mum Feared Bullies
An overweight mother who died after having a gastric band fitted underwent the operation because she feared her daughter would be bullied at school, it has emerged.
Kerry Greaves, from Tang Hall, York, opted for the procedure following concerns that her three-year-old daughter Melissa would be teased about her size. However, the 30-year-old's stomach failed to heal after surgery and despite repeated operations to save her, she died on July 22.
Her mother Anne said: "Kerry never thought there would be any problems with the surgery and neither did we. "She did it for her daughter. She didn't want her to be picked on at school. She didn't want things said to her like 'your mum's fat' and stuff like that."
"She had mates who had had the operation and they were fine. She thought if they are fine I will be fine." Gastric band surgery involves fitting an adjustable band around the upper section of the stomach in order to accelerate weight loss. The process can lead to complications, including infections, and in rare cases, leakage into the stomach.
Mrs Greaves urged people to think twice about undergoing the procedure in light of her daughter's shock death. "There is a 50/50 risk, but you don't expect anything like this to happen," she said. "It is just not worth it." Around 150 mourners attended Ms Greaves' funeral last Friday, and friends and family have also been paying tribute online.
On Gonetoosoon.org, friend Julie said: "Your family were so blessed to of had you in their lives, and especially your princess Melissa who will grow up with wonderful memories of a wonderful mum." Another friend wrote: "My last words to u on facebook were u will b fine. told u 2 of my friends ad same op n they done well. feel awful yours went wrong. u ad so much to live 4. a beautiful girl
Yes, I understand that the Gastric Lap Band is much safer than the traditional Gastric Bypass surgery, and also, that the Lap Band is reversible whereas the Gastric Bypass in not, but there is always risk involved in any kind of bariatric surgery.
Even if I were an obese parent, I still would not have the operation done, even if it meant that my losing weight would help to end the bullying of my kids in school.
Do I sound selfish?
NO! For the simple reason, that even if I weren't a fat parent, the bullies would just simply find another reason to harass my kids. If it isn't having a fat parent, it would be some other reason. Also, I might die from the surgery if something goes wrong, so it's better for kids to have a fat parent than no parent at all.
My losing weight, and getting down to a more "socially acceptable" weight is not going to stem the tide of the bullying of my kids in school because bullies will just invent another reason.
When I was a kid in school, being the typical nerd or geek, I didn't care for sports, I preferred science and art instead, and I was often called a sissy and a fagot because I didn't like sports. I was even told that if I wanted the other kids to stop bullying me around, then I should put away my "sissy" books on astronomy, my telescope, my art stuff, and the rest of my "sissy" stuff, and take up sports instead.
But I was lousy at sports, and due to a knee injury at the age of four from a car accident. I walked with a limp and I could not run, so even when I did attempt to participate is sports, I was still bullied around in school just simply because I was so lousy at sports.
Bullies can always find some reason, if it's not from being fat, or not from disliking sports, than it is because of your ethnic or racial background, or because of the style clothes you like to wear, or some stupid reason.
Yes, I guess that I do have to grudgingly admit that both Polite24 and SportsGuy92 are correct when the claim that sports is not the only cause of bullying in our schools.
While we are bombarded by the sports media on TV, we are also being constantly bombarded by the entertainment media, the fashion industry, and the commercials on TV for every new weight loss gimmick that comes along. Every week that advertise a new weight loss product, and I just have to ask, if last weeks product was so terrific, then why do they have to come out with a new gimmick every week.
The media dictates what is acceptable, how we should appear, and so, many young teenage girls strive to lose enough weight to get down to wearing a size zero, and recently they have come out with fashionable clothing in a size -2, that's right! A negative or minus 2!
I believe that eating disorders , such as anorexia or bulimia among teens is the result of brainwashing by the media. We are constantly being told by the media that women must look like broomsticks and any guy, like me for example, who happens to like plump women, we are looked upon as being some kind of perverts! So, we are all subject to media bullying, the entertainment media, the fashion media, the advertising media, and the sports media.
So, thanks to all the brainwashing by the media, guys like me who like nice plump women, we are viewed as some kind of perverts!
But I don't care what anybody else might think, this is my idea of the perfect women!

It is my most sincere hope that all the Bariatric Butchers out there will keep their bloody hands off of this sweet babe!
I think she's hot! This is the way I like 'em!!!
Any questions???
The truth is, and lets be honest here, because I'm going to tell it like it is!
The primary reason so many people want to lose weight, is NOT for health reasons, but because they are actually more worried about their appearance than they are about their health, else they would not resort to often questionable or dangerous tactics to get down to a "socially acceptable" weight. Therefore, health is not the primary motivation, but rather, it is appearance.
Many people are literally dieing to be thin!!!
I say, if you're going to risk your life undergoing a dangerous surgical procedure, or using drugs with harmful side effects, then you're better off just staying fat, because there are some things that are far more dangerous than obesity.
As for me, I'm un-apologetically FAT!

I don't apologize for my size.
And anybody who doesn't like it, can lump it, take it on down the road and dump it!
Another words, they can kiss my fat ass!
As Popeye would always say . . . . .

. . . . . I YAM WHAT I YAM, AND THAT'S ALL THAT I YAM!!!

I'm fat and sassy! I love to sing & dance & stomp my feet & really rock your world!
